HELP with camber adjustment
Help needed.......
70 Beetle.
Just tried to get a wheel alignment done. Left side is OK, BUT they can't get the correct Camber on the right side. The adjustment goes from 4 1/2
degrees positive to 1 1/12 degrees positive. Won't go any lower than 1 1/2..
Any ideas of where the fault could be?
Have not long had it, so no idea of history.

Pop the balljoints from the spindle. You'll be able to tell by hand if they're knackered or not. Sloppy or really loose is no good. Unless very new
then they should still have some resistance when you move the ball in it's socket.
If the joints are OK then you next have to check the torsion arm bearings and finally see if the lower arm is bent as a heavy curbing can bend them.

Something is bent. Have a good look at the arms. The person doing the wheel alignment should be able to work out what is wrong.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Has the beam been cut and welded for lowering, if not done correctly the leaves can be off set to one side, you can buy adjusters with more camber but
its better to find the cause first

UPDATE.....
found the right lower balljoint was sloppy, so replaced both upper and lower.
Back for another try at wheel aligning......... Still cannot get the right side camber right.
So now going to TRY to see if something is bent.

Go somewhere else for a wheel alignment. If the retard couldn't work out that the ball joint was worn, I wouldn't be letting him touch my car.
