Have i blown the gearbox selector in this 091 gearbox?
Hi guys,
Im having a problem with my 76 bay, all of a sudden i can not select 1st gear. If you finally manage to find it after minutes of searching it will
drive fine no crunching or grinding but its completely lost the h pattern.
Before you ask, all linkages and couplings are about 2000kms old, i have checked them all and they are still perfect with no play. The front grommet
near the shifter is still there too.
Im lost, i just cant adjust the stop plate to get a smooth 2nd 3rd and 4th great either.
One odd think i noticed, after removing the gear skick, is the shift shaft meant to be facing up?mine is definately leaning to the left side of the
car in neutral...

This is a photo directly above the shift shaft from inside the cabin, showing the shaft rolled over to the passenger/left side of the car, is this
normal?

I'd check the cage for the gearshift coupling. They have a tendency move where they are crimped together. I always put a couple of tack welds on them
before installing. See if the grub screw looks vertical or offset to one side to tell

Ah no way, the coupling cage looked fine but the grub screw is definately offset from vertical....
I have already pulled the gearbox out this afternoon when it was probably the rear coupling shifting!!!
Ah well the gearbox has been putting up with 200hp for 5000kms so its due for a rebuild and a tall 4th albins gear,
Thanks for the help mate
