Movement in steering column
Hi all,
I have some vertical movement in my steering column it seems as if I can lift the whole column by approx 2cm. Also my horn only works when I lift the
column. I did notice that one of the sliding plates (see photo) holding up the column is bust and the thread in both plates is no longe of any use so
two bolts have been added. before invesitgating futher I'd like to replace them.
Anyone got some lying around or know the part number? Please let me know.

Good place to find or reference Type3 parts https://www.vwispwest.com/pg94
Haven't got my Type3 (1972 Fastback) in the garage to check it out but looks as though the mounting plate is not on correctly

Thanks for the link. Are you suggesting it's upside down. Kind of would make sense.

Not sure - mine has got a cover over that section where it attaches to the dash - other photos I've got also have the cover.

think i can recall someone on here asking about the broken part you have in the photo.
i think its a single year only (1970 maybe) part as the column changed.
someone may be able to find that post .............. sorry i looked but couldnt see it anywhere.

HI Grahame,
Tried to send you a PM but doesnt seem to work ( not showing in my outbox). The part in your image is exactly what I'm after. If you know the part
number or got one available let me know.
Cheers,
Sam
