Split Kombi IRS conversion

I have tried the search function for this-but have never found anything I am looking for.Need to figure out how it works.Has anybody done this conversion successfully? Are there any pics please.I was told the jigs for a Beetle work, but the torsion bar end plates have way different bolt spacings. What has been used for jigs to get the pivot boxes in the correct spot for camber?

Started the mods to fit the Type 3 automatic.First job was to fix some shitty previous repair. It looks like the Bus has been hit up the arse on the RH rear corner and had another section from a doner grafted in.Not a good result. There was no actual weld holding anything.Lucky the owner of this is a top class body guy who will be doing all the body repairs.I have done the chassis repair.I am welding plates to the rear chassis to box it in for extra strength.I have cut the rear horse collar and frame horns out. Will shift the horse collar back about 150mm to weld new front transmission mounts.I will have to fabricate all this stuff.I plan to use the bolt holes in the auto's bell housing to locate the engine/trans mounts.VW used these holes for mounts in the 411 Variant models.

Horse collar gone and ready for a new front mount and some suspension pivot brackets.I am making the 2 jigs to weld the pivot brackets.I am making them so each one will do a Beetle and a Bus.Somebody in the past had used oxy to cut the LH rear bumper bracket bolts.Had to cut the chassis and fab a new piece.Have welded 10mm nuts inside.

Drilled out 24 spot welds to separate the frame horns from the horse collar.

I cut out the cast pieces that held the front trans mount.I will fabricate a new front mount from some chromemoly tube and nolathane suspension bushes.I will have to cut some small sections from the torsion bar tube to get the trans forward enough for the engine tin to seal properly.

I made these jigs to weld Beetle IRS pivot boxes into a split Bus.Made them dual purpose-they will also allow an IRS conversion to an early Beetle pan.The spring plate jig is clamped to a splitty spring plate convert it to suit the IRS pivot arms. This is the first patient to get a Type3 rear end.
