T3 gear change

Goodday Folks,Iam trouble with the gear selection on my T3 Kombi. When trying to change from 1 to 2,occasionaly it will not go immediately . there is some sort of lock device presumably to stop you selecting reverse and this behaves as if it IS sticking. The van some times sits for 2 or 3 weeks and after this period it is at its worst. How do I access this part and lubricate it.I have a Bently book but can only find 1 photo that isn' t very good and no instructios.
Thanks in advance for any advice..........Wayne

Wayne, check out the kombi club and also T3 owners on FB.
There was a recent pic of the linkage from under the shifter.

Check
- ball and cup at gearbox
- bush and rubber boots on shift rod at gearbox (bush sit in the boots, had one where the boots were totally gone from around the bush and gear selection was a lottery)
- bush at the midship section (this is usually ok)
- guide blocks and nylon/delrin ears on the gearstick/shift rod depending on whether you have a 4sd or 5sd

Remember play builds up with each bit of successive wear. Fixing one component may not be a total solution.
