Throttle lever
Hi all had a search couldn't find anything hence the thread but apologies if a rehash.
Have a 1967 bug although a bit of a mix up car when we bought it not exactly original. Anyway was advertised as a 1600 engine and I didn't check but
when did check engine number turns out a 1300 no biggy.
One day it'll be blown apart and rebuilt but she's registered and driveable so just been doing basics so the wife can get a bit of enjoyment out of
it and can stockpile parts. Put on a brand new carb pict 31(mechanic did as was doing a few other bits for me). also changed dizzy to electronic by
the way
Problem having with the carb is that the throttle lever once warm and not on choke will not return all the way back to idle position when rev up with
the pedal. its not touching or rubbing on anything the screw isn't catching on the choke or anything like that just won't return all the way.
I reset the cable on it and that has made it a smidge better as the wife took it out the other week prior to doing that and by the time she got home
it was barely returning and revving its ring out at idle and or when changing gears. It mostly seems to only do it when revving up with the pedal ie
if dong it in the engine bay seems to return fine (very very occasionally might not go quite all the way when doing that way but rarely).
Any suggestions? At this stage all I can think is the cable is stuffed and or just catching somewhere, but admittedly seems to operate ok when looking
at it and jiggle and push it in the car when it doesn't return doesn't do anything. Just sometimes can rev it right up with the peddle when it
doesn't return and might return all the way but inconsistent.
Just thought I'd ask before went to the trouble of replacing the cable to see if the problem or should be something else to try as can't really send
the wife out in it whilst chance of doing as it does rev its ring out think cos of it it fouled up one of the plugs (num 2 plug)when it done it, that
bad had to be replaced but it would have been over fueling. going to have a play with the mix anyway as seems a little rich and getting the slightest
bit of smoke out of the right bank 1/2 side when give it a blip of throttle and off again.
lots of writing apologies just trying to put as must as possible of observations.
Thanks in advance

Have a look at the front trans mount if that loose that can cause the trans and engine to move and change the cable length
