72 Notch door into 71 Fasty - can it be done, and how?

Ripping into the brown beast in search of rust (which isn't being hard to find). Drivers' side door is rotten inside all the way along the bottom seal channel (it's missing 10mm of steel most of the way as well as being holed in patches along the inner vertical face), but I know where I can get a basically solid one. Problem: It's a 72 notch with three-hole hinge plates.
So the question is this: Are these doors identical apart from the three-holed hinge plate on the body side? And has anyone successfully knocked the pins out, swapped in the two-hole plates from a fasty and got the swap to work? Anything else involved in the swap? Cheers...
