Our 1973 Brazilian 6 Door Resto Project
Okay, aside from our 1963 Ghia we also picked up another VW when we lived overseas and it has been having metalwork done for the last few months. It
is a 6 door taxi bus from Brazil! They only made about 1800 or so of these, and they did not live a gentle life. Ours didnt look too bad, until it was
blasted and all its scars were revealed. The panel beater doing the work has been earning his pay, even with the Klassicfab panels to assist, there
has been a lot of massaging and fabrication of parts and panels that just are not reproduced.
I will save and post some photos when I can work out how to shrink them.
But I do have a question for anyone with a Brazilian bus. We have barn door cargo doors with the high hinge setup and ice pick door handles - but if
we were to replace the handles with new repro ones that we could lock, what year would work? Anything pre 64? Pre 60?
Thoughts/advice/hard earned experience???
