Nice work. I wouldn't have thought the power curve on the 1.8 20 valve would've suited a heavy T3 very well. I imagine you won't be
racing much off at the traffic lights :p
Just stirring. I'll be interested to see how the turbo one goes :thumb

Hi Wes,
Your right, its about the same as the 2.1 (the 20valve has a variable intake manifold, so the power curve is deceptively flat, but with heaps more mid
range. It also revs past 6k as well.
I have a feeling that when we finish the 1.8T converion, I will need to upgrade my own one!

looks great but how does the intake temp run once the engine is heat
soaked? or is there a cold air intake? |

Hi
That looks nice.
The local (to me) engine reconditioning guy is running an Audi V6 in his T3 twin cab, it sounds so nice.

Heat soak -
Engine air intake is through the factory snorkel (up in the side vents), via the donaldson. On my last 100km trip, the intake air temp was 19 degrees
constant (on a 19 degree day), so extra heat from the manifold is not an issue (it sits in the same spot as the factory airbox. There is an extra
heatshield to deflect air downwards.
The good thing is it is fully VAG diagnostic compatible, so we can measure & log all the engine vitals.
The turbo conversion uses an intercooler of course!

Hey
That is pretty cool. Very neat and good to see you guys are getting into some engine conversions. Out of interest what does one of those engines cost
?

makes my $2500 (full front cut, sold $600 of unused parts so far, so really $1900 for the engine) quad cam VRIS 150kW V6 seem like good value for
money. :thumb
Ah the price you pay to keep the engine VW / Audi.
