Accelerator cable tube ???

After snapping an accelerator cable in the bug the other day, I found somthing interesting out when trying to replace it - I dont have any tube for the accelerator cable to run through after it exits the tunnel.

Is there meant to be anything here (like the clutch cable has a bourdon tube) ?

I know there is meant to be a small tube that goes through the fan housing (also didnt have that !!!).

Anyone know ?

Yes there is susposed to be a flexiable tube between the chassis and the tube that goes through the engine fan.

Most VW experts have thrown these away over the years and finding one nowdays is pretty hard.

See if you can find one at a wreckers. They help

Aha ! Thought it looked a bit amateur to have the throttle cable just swinging in the breeze.

Will have to try and chase one down in my 'spare time'.

Thanks gurus !

Accelerator cable tube... "bowden'???

Yes Doug,
I asked the same question a while back, It is a very heavy tube, I think heavier than the bowden clutch cable tube. why its so heavily constructed I haven't a clue.... I was just going to use a piece of hose... when luckily I found mine, in amongst My collectable rubbish.... as My Wife calls it....
cheers
Lee
