If they were still built on the original Beetle floor pan they would be bobbing up and down all over the place. :o

Oh but they arn't beetles anyway...

The all new VW MINI SUB.

I was wondering if the floods reached there, now I know.

Well the floods were on the Elbe river in Germany, which would have affected the Dresden factory. Dresden is in south-east Germany. I don't think
Wolfsburg (and the Museum) was affected as that's in the north-west of the country.

And the water would be fresh, not salty, but muddy and destructive nonetheless.

Sh#t! The Factory at Dresden has been closed and will be closed for repair when we are over there in 2 weeks due to the floods, So we will miss the
tour and a chance to see the transparent factory. Jeezus what a jip! what a PITA this is. We will have some consolation as we will probably stay in
Wolfsburg for an extra day.
NOT HAPPY JAN!

That's a shame, talk about bad timing.

Still, there's always the Wolfsburg headquarters to see, and I imagine you could spend a week there without blinking. And VW also has factories
at Emden and Hanover, and component factories at Kassel and Salzgitter. Not to mention the Audi factories at Innusbruck and Neckarsulm. Don't
depair, still plenty to see!

Factory Closed

What a bummer the factory is closed .. But do yourself a favour .. If you go to Munich .. You must do the four hour BMW Factory tour .. I did it about
7 years ago and it was the best engineering masterpiece I have ever experienced .. You see rolls of steel eventually being driven out of the factory

Hooray!!!

Looks like we will be able to go to the Dresden Factory afterall

It will reopen the day we get there, so we are in luck, I was starting to get stressed about it but we will still get the chance to check out this
really cool transparent VW factory.

I've never even SAT in a water cooled VW (must have air in my veins I guess) and these have more water cooling than most!

There's only aircooled beetle I know if in more trouble than these VWs. It's a 59 bug which is at the bottom of the sea in 70 meters of
water about 15 miles from Mawson Base in Antarctica. If was taken there by Mark Forecast, an Observer for the Bureau of Meteorology (yes -
that's his real name!) in 1967, and it fell through the ice when he and a friend drove it over the sea ice to see a glacier. Luckily it DID
float long enough for them to figure out how to get out - dressed in there Antactic "Michelin man" suits is was difficult.
