Kruizin's '75 Kombi (and others)
Here's my kombi stuffed full of firewood. It's a '75 transporter (not microbus) with microbus deluxe 1/4 vent windows, Britax sunroof,
mesh visor and tinted windows. Otherwise its all stock, except for the (temporary) VW 15" wheels on the back.
Future plans include finishing the alarm/central locking instal (back doors to go), doing the full microbus thing to the interior, and adding electric
windows and maybe flat glass in the back. Maybe one day I'll get around to painting it, as it is starting to show signs of needing it.

Here's a pic of me jumping dunes on the Jan 02 Beach Run at Noosa. You can see the roofracks beginning to buckle under the windsurfer in this
pic.
Photo's of my other cars still to come.

Great Photo's, the 8 wheeler would be good off road, do you plan to have all 8 driving?
VW 15" rims?? Is that right, or are they Merc rims? If they are VW 15" to fit a Bay window I'll taken off yer hands.

I would have all eight wheels driving and the front six wheels steering, but this project is a LONG way off yet, lots of other things to do first.
Yes they are VW rims, I brought them from Marcel but we don't know what they're off. The have VW stamped into them, but they are a slightly
different offset to stock. As you can see though, they do fit.
Two seconds ya think? I think it was more like 'AS'!!
Yeah, that is a windsurfer/sailboard. I really have to get a two-piece mast for it though, because the one I have is huge!! A smaller one would fit
inside the kombi next time I break my roof bars. :thumb

Sorry Col , should have read the earlier post properly. Reason I ask is that I've been sailboarding on and off for the last 20 years. (Mostly
off. The board that is)
Try to get down to Sandy Point a couple of timesover Summer.

I spend most of my time off the board also. If I pull my finger out and make up the missing piece to the roofbars Graham (11cab) gave me, I'll
get down to the local cooling ponds for some practice. Where is Sandy Point?

Straight opposite the Prom about 3/4 of an hour from Inverloch. Best place for a bit of speed sailing. Gets a bit congested with sailboarders some
times. But you can drive your car right down to the water and unload your gear.

The '68 Bug
Here's the '68 bug we bought this year from Synchro Steve. My wife has named her 'Sacha' and loves her to death. She's got a
stock 1500 single port, now sporting a freshly reconditioned carby. She's a little rough around around the guards, but still has her original
paint on the body itself.

Peewee Update
I picked up the 15" wheels this weekend (thanks Paul) and fitted them on the spot for a test drive. After a lot of miles this weekend under
various conditions I have to say I'm very impressed with them and immediately noticed how much quieter and lower Peewee is. :thumb
I will eventually probably put something a little higher profile on (when these tyres wear out) just to try and get the speedo back to something a bit
closer to the truth - kinda like a 'fishing' speedo: it reads 110kph when I'm only actually doing 100kph. Great for avoiding speeding
tickets, and it did go up hills much better too, but I'm still experimenting.

Ok, here's one with the roofrack, bought from a mate (not on this forum) for $200.
I tested it for wind noise with the sunroof open at 125kph and decided it was tolerable, then zip-tied some mesh onto it and repeated the test. So far
its ok.
The next step is to remove the rack, cut some mesh panels to size and weld it in. The mesh I am using is 4mmx100mmx100mm weldmesh, chosen because 1)
it's fairly open and shouldn't cause too much extra wind resistance/noise, 2) it's strong enough to walk on or tie things down to, and
3) I already have it sitting around. :thumb
After welding the mesh on, I'm going to get the whole lot sandblasted ($80) before painting the whole thing with POR-15 prior to refitting it.
I'm going to have to get myself a skyhook. So far I've fitted it to get it home and do the aforementioned noise tests. I have to remove it
to weld it, then fit it to take it to the sandblasters, then remove and refit it again to bring it home and then remove and refit it again so I can
paint it! :o

And here's the roofrack on its first 'outing'. It still has to come off for sandblasting and POR-15, hopefully during Jan.
I also threw on a set of cheap ($17.50/4) plastic 15" wheel covers, because he was starting to look like an urban assault vehicle. :o

Hehehe, I haven't taken it off yet, even went to work today with it on! I'm actually considering making a lockable mount for it so it can
stay on permanently, ya never know when I might want to use it. I really do need a two-piece mast though, mine is much too long.
I'm keen to take it out Dean, because I still haven't learned to use it. I actually only 7kms from a suitable place to windsurf if you want
to come down. Maybe you can give me some pointers? I can even get some canoes as well and make a day of it if you like.
