im sorry.... but stuff 'em!
maybe you all aint aware. cam hadnt seen it so i thought i would put ti up for all.
the poms dont need our buses. they have all the bits to fix and even build one from scratch, as creative engineering have demonstrated. below is a 23
window 2003 version that creative built from their own parts bin.
so lets not be tempted to sell our vws. instead lets try and encourage more to oz. and maybe in a few years our local guys will have parts as
extensive as this...

So lets see.
By your reckoning,
If the yanks deceided to do the same thing we wouldnt have.
any Empi parts, Autocraft, Berg parts or if other countries like England or germany also stopped supplying old parts we wouldnt have KM/H speedo,s or
disc brake front end kits.
And the BRM wheels everyone wants are made by Flat Four in Japan or Midland Wheel Service in England.
Also the Rosstyle wheels or S,A, Sprint stars are from South Africa, by your reckoning if we want to keep everything that we have in Oz to stay here
is it alright to buy these products from overseas.
Bit hypocritical if you ask me.
Two guns.
The only way we will get parts like the ones from creative is if We IMPORT THEM as the scene is too small over here for it to be economically viable,
just ask people like PMGBUS or SplitbusAustralia, they put posts up offering to supply parts that they can make and there are loads of replies saying
I will buy them and they only end up selling a couple and find they are left with stuff that they cant sell, they then dont bother having more
made.
Also there have been posts on this site about importing busses from USA, do you think they think that there buses should stay over there?????
So its alright for us to get thingds from other countries but how dare they try and get stuff from us.
As for building a bus from scracth, the bus was a german made bus but it had all the outer side panels made by creative, they dont make the chassis or
whole roof , give them time though and they might,
It is still cheaper to buy a bus and repair it.
As I have said before this is my opinon and I we are all entitled to opinions, or are we going to try and stop them like we are trying to stop people
from buying goods if they want to???
Cheers
Dave

the thing i have become to realise reading all these posts is that VW's are a world wide hobby and i would rather sell a bus to someone like a
pommie who i will know will restore it leaving no costs spared where as aussies will just leave it to rust to death!!!
i am an offender of buying busses and leaving them to rust but its time we all got over giving the poms crap when where just as big offenders!!!
cheers
rhys
p.s. that is a awesome bus!
it aint just cool its aircool'd

Dave I took it a little bit more toungue in cheek than that, And it would be impossible to do too.
The one thing that will build cars now and into the futre is the all mighty value of the dollar, If our dollar value rises to say America we can
easily buy from all over the world ,

It might have been meant tounge in cheek, but we seem to go over the same thing every couple of months ,
It all boils down to
Money talks bullshit walks.
And lets stop with the pommie bashing.
With out them we wouldnt have this forum as there would have been no vws for you to drive????

Don't see any of this in the EH Holden fraternity. The furtherest they go is between states. Then we get to see them again at the next nationals
anyway.
So much easier.

hey 57 im not pommie bashing, and i am all for parts being traded.... but not whole cars being traded, other wise we wont need the parts. and yes it
was a little toungue in cheek as just to highlight how much more we need to do for our own community
and as for the bus posted built by creative, as i was aware it was a tube frame and built from parts and pieces. could be wrong, but...

yeah creative do some very nice stuff but it is no way cheap and I'm sorry if you think we are stealing your vw's but we want them and we
are willing to pay top price for them.
when you take into acount the cost of shipping them here and all the other costs and taxes it don't work out all that cheap for us either.
I wish we didn't keep buying your vw's but if you sell em to us then were gonna buy em, sorry.

Our Bus and Beetle were both assembled here in Melbourne at the Clayton factory.
I would say they were CKD kits with local glass, interior, tyres, wiring and some other bits I suppose.

Why is there so much rivalry between the Brits & Oz????? forget cricket & rugby its all bullshit anyway.
I could be wrong (history & geography are not my best points) but arn't most of you are desendants from the UK anyway???? just because you
have better weather means your dubs have lasted better than ours.
The reason we want your VW's is that you drive RHD cars and for the big part you live in a dry country end of story... if we drove LHD cars then
we would be off to the US dry states to buy our VW's.
That Creative bus 'I belive' is a space frame tubular chassis and not a proper bus.
It works out cheaper to import a VW from Oz than it would to build one, besides surley it's better to keep a real one alive as opposed to
building a fake one.

deserved to.You cant beat market forces ($) its bigger than all of us,and on a brighter note if our exchange rate doubles we can buy them all
back. |

we dont like the ppl that buy container loads of parts to take back to the UK and sell them off at HUGE prices and profits.
that is what shits us more than anything, if u want one to do up, fair enough but dont take all our spare parts as well and then in the end try and
sell them back to us at $000's mark ups !

Thats a freaking sensational bus. I wonder if they're like most vintage cars tho. Not worth anything without numbers?!?!?!
I've got a pic' on my computer of a bus undergoing psycho restoration. Can't remember where I found it. But if these lads make
EVERYTHING for a bus monocoque (including strenghteners, etc...) then building a jig from a rusted to buggery bus, then making a new shell from
scratch with old numbers maybe the way of the future

To be completly honest with you, I think most of the Brits who have to pay these highly marked up prices are just as Pi**ed as you lot.
There are a few dealers/suppliers over here that have got a bit of a reputation because of their highly inflated prices.
The biggest problem we've got is that there are only 4 or 5 countries that have RHD cars, the biggest markets UK=rust, South Africa=to much paper
work plus you run the risk of getting shot !!!! so you guys in Oz are our best bet of keeping our dubs and dub scene alive in RHD form.

Personally I don't think it would bother me, but I'm sure on the whole most Brits would feel the same as you guys feel,
so I guess were in a no win situation other than more and more old dubs are coming back to life because of the availability of these RHD parts.
The thing that I'm Pi**ed with are all these rich people coming into the scene because their friend has just bought an "Oval" or
"23 window" and have just got to have one, go buy a Ferrari Wa**ers and stop hiking the price of our dubs up.

well i have two splits now. and if the poachers keep coming over, and i am not allowed to shoot them lke in south africa ( an idea which could be

I absolutely love that bus. The ultimate new-school, band, tour bus. Our parents era had the "Grateful Dead" style buses, we can have these

Wonder how you'd go getting them rego'd?
Maybe this will be the answer to all those rotted-to-the-earth's-core buses that we've seen in about 10 pieces, thanks to being left in a
paddock or forest too long. Make up a jig, get all your new panels... And what little pieces and ID you can from you're shagged bus, the start
welding.
From a pure-ist angle it could cause some raised eyebrows. But when restorations nowadays are getting to this point *points at attachment and hopes it
works this time*. I can't really see much of a difference.
So they make everything new then? Even the structural and re-inforcement parts?
