Just wanted to know how much ur dubs chug..give us a like cents/kilometer or how far out of what size tank and what u drive....just our of interest

i have a 1973 1800 microbus. i usually get 300km out of 35 litres (around $30)
So about 10 cents per km depending on petrol prices. how cheap is it in Qld. in the blue mountains its been floating around the 85c/L mark.(unleaded)

Thats not bad out of the kombi!
I get about 8km/L round the city and say 11km/L on a run in the 74L with twin webers
My 82 auto 2L kombi gets 6km/L round town and 7.5km/L on a run

i do drive it pretty slow. i love seeing those angry faces as they overtake and mutter bloody hippy in a kombi.

we drove the greeat ocean road last week. I got from Adelaide to Mt. Gambier on a 50l tank. (about 400km):thumb
on the way home (via Ballarat, Horsham, etc.) Iwas getting about 350km out of a tank.
that's in a '73 kombi 
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

how do you measure this. i was listening to Dr K on triple J and he said the best way was to fill it up to the same spot and then count the km's
(mine is in miles so i have to convert) then next time you fill up fill to the same spot. i.e. i look down the petrol filler.
I think the reason for my good kms is that i drive 30 mins to work every day and there are about 5 lights totla the rest is steady cruisin at 60-80
km/h. not much acceleration.

I always try to fill at the same station but the kombi clicks off at the same spot each time
The 74L seems to fill to different levels each time
My kombi figures are for real short drives round the suburd running kids hear and there, shops etc. Really struggles to warm up. And when we do go for
a run it is loaded to the hilt

even though they are vans they are not really good for filling with people/stuff the engine is too small and i can hardly make it up some hills. the

Mine is roughly around 10km/L around town and 12km/L on the highway. That's in an overweight unaerodynamic V6 powered Baja :thumb

I get about 300kms out of a tank, would no doubt get more if i didnt have the weber on it (but what would be the fun of that!) say about 8.5km/L, less
driving around the city of course. |

i run about 9l/100km on the highway and about 13L/100km around town. but am a hoon and plant my right foot. The 9L/100km was a sysdney to brisbane run
in 9.5hrs (10mins not moving) |

My old Golf III used to get around 9 l / 100 km in town.
My old Toyota Echo used to get around 4.8 l / 100 km on the highway, and around 6 l /100 km around town. I used 40 litres going between Sydney and
Melbourne (895 km) when I moved back in 2001 (4.4 l/100 km) as I was following my stuff in a truck which couldn't do more than 90 km/h.
My old Turbo Beetle used to do between 7.3 l/100 km on the highway to around 8.3 l/100 km on my normal daily grind run.
My current C3 auto gets 7.3 l/100 km on my normal daily grind run with climate always on.

Hi Guys! You are too technical for me.
I have a 1973 Type 3 with 1600 twin carbs. I get about 230 - 240 miles out of 40 litres. I don't know if thats good, but thats what I get. If
the wife is driving - well maybe 200 but thats life.

standard 2ltr twincab,with a 1600 gearbox & large sand tyres, averages around 320km/45ltr fuel. but best was around 403km/53.6ltr.

when i bought my manx in capalaba (Brisbane) I drove it home to Bundaberg (approx 400 km) on 15lt of fuel- 5lt of that being 10 year old fuel that was
in the tank - also the car hadn't been driven on the road for around 10 years- so its wasn't in a high state of tune.... all i did was
change the oil first then fit a battery then i was off home  |
