window tinting
can anyone recommend a good place to go in the sydney area to get my windows tinted? blacktown area would be a bonus.
thought i might as well do it while the glass is out of the car.
also, i've been told to go for 'metalised' tint? apparently it's not so prone to fading? do many places do this metalised tint?

we have "tint-a-car" here in Adelaide.
maybe there's one near you.
they do a tint that is titanium pigment based.
it doesn't discolour. It has a 10 tear guarantee to say it doesnt. not a super dark tint though, but very clear to look through. cost me $300 to
get my K.G. done about 4 years ago.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

We just had the wifes hyundai done three days ago in nowra and they used metalised tint.
Apparently there is three types of tint that you can get.
Starting from the cheapest:
5yr warranty= Coloured plastic ($250)
10yr warranty= Metalised tint ($290)
life time warranty= special metalised tint ($350).
Prices are roughly what we got quoted.
some people are like slinky's
they have no useful purpose
but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs

i'm gonna make some calls tomorrow, but do you reckon they'd have a problem with me just taking the glass to them? coz it's not in the
car at the moment and i thought it would be best to get it done first.

Ask for 20%, because I think the Legal Stuff 37% is a waste of time and money.

I had Blue 1 done a while ago. The guy had problems with the curved rear window. I would think it would be heaps easier with the windows out.

If they are any good at Tinting the window curve shouldn't be a problem.
My mate does tinting and I've watched him do My Fairmont, my Golf and two of my Friends new Beetles.
The Curve on the rear of a New Beetle is massive, but there is a technique where they heat swrink the tint in to shape on the outside of the glass and
than stick it on to the inside.
He made it look really easy.

Glass out is no problem as i enquired about that while i was there getting the hyundai done.
And if you are interested in what it means to get it darker than legal.
It means that in the event of an accident (god forbid) and you are at fault, the insurrance company will not honour your policy and it will be come
null and void.
Meaning that you will end up haveing to fork out the cash for the other dude involved.

My hubby and his mate run a tinting business up here in Brisbane.... If we can help give them a call on 0423 430064 (Michael)
I realise that your not near Brisbane but they will point you in the right direction...... They also can help with lets say Darker Tint aswell.......
We quote for a Kombi i think its $265.00 and a Beetle $200.00 with a guarantee.... the only thing is with darker tint (Ambulance Quality) is that if
you get it done one place and it stuffs up in the future not very many other tinters will touch it.....
Most metalised film is good but it can be reflective........... Chris tinted my back window of the beetle and he had no problems at all with
it....... I use to own a Renault Fuego and had that done and no problems with that.
We also have the facility of doing flames and grafics in the Window Film.... They have just done up a 1/4 glass from a bay window Kombi with Homer
Simpson on it..... they are planning to start a Back window of a Kombi with the whole Simpson Family on it..,,,,,,

p.s. when i get home ill post a pic of our Kombi with the Dark Tint on it..... also a hint... if you get a Kombi done because of all the Glass get
the front 2 windows done lighter so that atleast you can see out clearly to use your mirrors..... otherwise it gets a bit on the dark side of life

can scratches on glass be sanded out by tinters, I have heard of it being done on shop front glass??

Okay no problems Aaron just give us a call.
You can buff out very very very fine scatches using Jewellers Rouge and a buff or you can use cutting compound and a buff but it only removes light
scratches and its a very slow process
The only thing that Tinting on Scratches is that when the tint is first put on you wont see the scaratches but when it dries youwill notice it as air
forms in the scratches....... you might get away with it..... but you may also have to replace the glass......
