Hydraulic tappet woes

On a 1991 T3 kombi.
Hydraulic tappets are fine if the car is used daily.
If it sits for some time (a few days to a week) one tappet gets VERY noisy (OK I know this is to be expected) but it doesn't go away for ~15-20min. Once it's gone it's fine again.
Any ideas what could cause this? If they were just leaky it should dissapear soon after start up??
Oil pressure seems fine, but has not been measured.
Oil is clean and replaced regularly.
Cheers,

I have hydraulic tappets on my twincab and it does the same. The oil leaks out because the tappet or what ever it leaks out of(not mechanicly minded)is in the upper position and it takes a while to refill or repressureise. It apparenty does no harm so I have been told

Mine does it too,
I did notice that it does it worse with synthetic oil so i went back to the good old Valvoline XLD

Thanks guy's.
Just from my limited experience in the past, they usually quieten within a few minutes. This one seemed excessively long to go away.
It's on my Brothers SC, and given the work involved to fix on a wasserboxer it will stay as it is until the heads need to come off for some other reason.

The tip on synthetic is interesting as it is also running synthetic!!

Hi

Mine has poblems if I start to move it out of the garage, turn it off & restart it again, it gets rattles for a short while, I avoid doing this now. I left it for 3 weeks over Christmas with no problems. Im using Mobil 1.
