why does the vw motor have blow by ?
we seam to be seeing new motors having blow by ,this is motors that have these ally oil fillers fitted, all of them have a breather fitted K&N type
that conects to the 1/4" port ,It seams as this breather gets a slight amount of oil mist on it
( blocked ) the oil spews out the pully .
I under stand the oil slinger but would like a better way to stop the oil leak
should I run a vacuum line to the carbs ?
These motors have a mild cam fitted & 87mm pistions :jesus

All motors will have blow by.
The alluminium filler things only have about a 3/8"? breather pipe. If you look at the stock it is at least 1/2" if not more.
This is also 1/2 the reason people say dont use 92, 88 and to a certain degree 87's.
Are they new???
If not they may have warped.
Try taking the oil cap off and drive it. Is the oil spillage relieved??
You may need to vent the rocker covers as well.
Futue te ipsum!!!

Some mist is normal
Oil being sprayed from behind the pulley over the engine lid is not.
Warped barrels is when they go out of round due to excessive heat.
If it is new and if it is spraying out the pulley broken rings on installation may also cause this
Yes the rings need to bed in.
This is why oil useage goes down after running it in.
Some rings never bed in

If this is the only breather then it will always look at venting through somewhere else once it is blocked. The pulley is the next "weekest
link"as well as the dip stick hole. You need to run a breather box, or vent out via the original oil filler vent tube as well. Rocker cover vents
are a good idea as this will also help.
No need to pull down your motor or panic that barrells are warped or rings broken, just allow your motor to vent with minimal restrictions.
A friend of mine had the same problem with his 1916 in his buggy. He runs breather pipes from his rocker covers as well as his oil filler into a
breather box. He had cut off the tube that runs form the oil filler to under the motor and welded up the hole, so all the pressure had to go via the
breather box. This had been running with no problems for two years in hillclimb and 50000kms on the road..............UNTIL
Well he decided to put a new "flashy Box" on and did not remove the foam inside. After about a month of driving the foam became soaked in
oil (same as your problem) and the breather box could no longer "breathe". mmmmmmm oil out the pulley ! It took me ages to find the problem
as I had fitted the old box and knew it had no foam !!!! Removed the foam problem solved !
He has also fitted the original filler with the pipe back on.
100 bucks says this will fix it :thumb
