I had exactly the same problem. Only really got clutch shudder in reverse, mainly when reversing up slight hills like friends driveways. Tried
adjusting the clutch bowden tube with washers, tried running the gearbox straps really tight, tried all the normal stuff, but it still shuddered.
Then my clutch plate kinda exploded as documented in another post of mine. So I bought a new clutch, but this time it was a nice expensive german
sachs clutch and not the cheap no-brand clutch I had before. Guess what, the clutch shudder went away.
So from personal experience, your clutch shudder may be related to a bad quality clutch plate. Your flywheel and pressure plate may also need
machining to clean up their surfaces.
