Making a beetle steer and handle

my beetle is lowered, i have a few questions...... some silly but eh im just curious

what can i do to improve the ride, and emilinate bumpsteer?

can i remove the stabiliser bar thing at the bottom and replace it with another item, if so do i get any more ground clearance ? or any better handling..... theres more to cum when i think of it hehe

oh, and i ha ve play in the steering.... turn it then the wheel turns bout ..... 1/8th of a turn.... probly less... is this steering box?

and brakes, 1-2inch of movement before it works, do i need to bleed or is there another adjustment i need to do?

cheers

Could be. Dunno if these early ones have a universal joint thingy like mine. Look in the front and find the box and adjust it up.

If you pump them and they go hard then it is bleeding. If not you may need to asdjust the pads.

HAve a look in Robs site. I will be amazed if he doesnt have a how to for those topics

Adam

This is a 40hp pre 67 car sint it... check and see if there are camber shims fitted behind the lower torsion tube on the bulkhead... these are alloy half moons thingies...

If there not there then go get some and fit them.

Not much you can do with Camber n Castor and there not adjustable in a King n Link

the best thing to do is make sure the torsion arms are straight in the proper VW jig and teh stub axles arnt not bent also using the VW jig.

Are teh King n Ling pins worn n need replacing ??

Brakes are the wheel cylinders new old... are the flex hoses new old
Is the brake pedal push rod adjusted correctly are the brake shoes adjusted correctly. Are the wheel bearings right

These are all little things that contribute to your steering n braking
