Kombi Camping Website ?????

I have noticed that there is a grwoing interest in Kombi Camping as I now call it.

Now there seems to be some great trip out there going on and a lot on information being gained, seems like a waste not to get it all in one place.

Now I have space and I have websites, all I need a a Webmaster to run it for us.... ANyoen out there want to take the idea and run with it ?

I figure the major area would be trip reports, setups and photo's ...

Just an idea at this stage but one that may well take off..

Feedback ???

Great idea Brad.
If we could have a listing of all states in Aust & the best spots for "Kombi Camping" in each, would be good with facilites available in each spot etc.
Kool idea if you want to go travelling....

Hi Brad,
Yes, I'm quite interested and could put in the time as web-wally.

Do you have any more detail or initial ideas or would you prefer I knock up a site layout for discussion?

Ok here is my idea

First up this is an idea and I am open to input

http://www.ozkombicamper.com  ??

Aim - Provide information on Kombi Camping tips, tech article and trip reports on Kombi Camping, in particular Kombi Campers.

Layout - Have areas for teh following:
- Misc Photos
- Kombi Fitout and Features
- Feature Campers
- Trip Reports
- Setup tips and handy road side repairs
- Camping Spots

It would be a website not a forum, input would be controlled by teh web people. It is not out to cover the entire Kombi issue and I think would be primarily Bay window and aimed at using not restory / showing etc if you get my drift.

I am thinking practicality and not mush else. Helping people find info and stuff in the one place.

For example I want to fit out my Kombi Kamper so I goto the website and look in the fitout section where I find heaps of info on just that FITOUT, what other have and how they find it.

And so on and so on and so on..

Then the kombi camping people put their http://www.ozkombicamper.com  stickers on their windscreen so the enire world can see it exists and then off we go .....

I think the potential overlap can be kept quite limited by concentration on those things which are specifically kombi & camping, along the lines you have mentioned.

In the longer term, there is potential for sponsorship from both camping facility providers ('van parks etc) and gear & accessory providers, to defray the hosting costs.

There are already some trip reports and related info. (e.g. kombikim's recent trip report) which might give a kickoff in initial content.

http://www.ozkombicampers.com  is available as a domian name.

What next?

well

If we think that http://www.ozkombicampers.com  is a good name then we will register it and I will setup the domain on the Unix box for you and send you the settings.

Can you get any special deals on http://www.ozkombicampers.com  or should I just use my guys at $7.95 USD a year ??

Let me know I will be back on tonight and will push the buttons.

I can't better USD 7.95/year.

http://www.ozkombicampers.com  seems OK, but would
http://www.aussiekombicampers.com
(also available) line up better with aussieveedubbers? Your call, doesn't bother me.

Hey brad as you know from the kombi you got from me the previous owners had a lot of work done by Shall we say overcharging people. Perhaps a section on good quality with good priced repairers would be the go as well.

Great idea for a website, I'll be visiting it before and after my kombi camping trips!

Just went to the web page - noticed that the logo and <title> don't match the new choice of URL. Also, the home link points to the wrong URL...

I'm a web developer too, if you guys need an extra pair of hands I'll be happy to help.

More hands the bettre. Talk to Mod he has the lead.

The URL is http://www.aussiekombicampers.com  and was going to be ozkombicampers.com but I changed my mind. So I set up the account for ozkombi and then change the redirect o aussie so that is why the folder is diff.

Won't matter once the DNS catch up.
