What is it with Beetles??????
What is it with bloody Beetles?? Every VW website you find is full of beetles.....every VW magazine you find is full of Beetles....every model shop
only stocks VW beetles!!!!!!!
Isn't it obvious that they are nowhere near as cool as Kombis!! It's time us Kombi owners make a stand!!!!
Maybe we should have our own forum so when you see a topic like "my 58" you don't race there all excited to find they are only talking
about a bloody beetle!!
Bigger is better in my book - so this proves kombis are better!
Why don't bloody beetle drivers wave back?
Am I alone on this????

nope, ur not the only one. there is nowhere near enough kombi content out there, not to mention peoples views on kombis! have you noticed just about
anybody can drive a beetle, some people even find it highly fashionable, but you have to be a pot smoking hippy to drive a kombi!

surfkombi,
I have been building a 72 super for the last 18 months but lately I've been wondering how I'm going to fit my 6.0' kneeboard in the
back.
Ocassionaly I catch myself looking wistfully at '68 to '70 kombis. Maybe the 2110 will push one nicely to the beach at
6:00am......hmmmmmm.

This is all silly. Why make it 'us and them'. We all have a passion for VW's, no matter if they're Type 1,2,3,4, what ever engine,
air, water, N/A, turbo, F/I, what ever. Anyway, I always wave to anyone with a VW, it doesn't matter. Get a grip guys. We all love our VW's,
both big and small.

I must admit - ever since I have owned the Kombi - I have started looking more interestingly towards beetles. I have found they are useful - you can
wreck them and use some of the parts on the Kombi!!!!!!!!!
I am looking forward to getting a copy of the new aussie VW magazine to see how much kombi content there is - all of the UK mags I have seen have one
ot two pages at the back dedicated to kombis.
I don't really want to segregate VW owners into 'us' and 'them' - I just wish there was as much Kombi material in the world
as there is beetle stuff.
PS When is a movie studio going to make 'Herby the Love Bus'??

Type 3
If you think the kombi is hard done by, try having a type 3. We wave to Kombi's and beetles, but only the diehard Veedubbers who recognize a
type 3 wave back.
And there a even less Type 3's than Kombi's in magazines.

I am definately going to the VW jamboree in Melbourne on March 28 - I hope to meet some Beetle Drivers and find out why they love there cars!!!!
I reckon Type 3's are very cool! One lives around the corner from me - buts it's owner won't wave!!
I have also found that owners of 'wedge' (82 onwards) kombis don't wave either!!!!!

I couldnt agree more SurfKombi, Beetles are everywhere, but lets think about it, it was all those bastards out there that bought em all, what you
should be complaining about is that those same bastards should have bought a Kombi not a Beetle regardless of whether they need 4 seats or 8. Golfs
are even more marginalised than the Kombi or Type 3. But its our own fault for not buying more of em and spending our hard earned on em to make em
look sick like countless bug owners do. I not saying other owners dont tho cos we do, so its sucks when you have a rareish car.

I plan to join a VW club very soon! I have looked at the Vic Clubs site but a fair bit of it seems to be down at the moment.
Im not even sure if there is only one club in VIC - but someone will let me know which is best!

I hope you're joking BYRONBUS, about finding a 'rusted wreck of a Beetle' after driving around. If you weren't, then think about
what you just said to a lot of Beetle owners. They would find that a bit of an insult.
Why can't we see the VW sign on a car and be happy that the VW, what ever type, still lives on. The less 'rusted Beetle wrecks' about,
the more the VW name will live on, hopefully forever.

Its all supply and demand..more beetles more beetle parts and info. U also gotta remember that when people think VW's they instantly think of a
beetle, its what makes vw's vw's. After a little more thinking they do although think of tree hugin hippies in kombi's! and herbie (a
beetle)
:P
But i do love kombis and i hope to get one soon..beetles have class but kombis have class and SPACE!
First thing i hope to do when i get a kombi is drive past a hippie protest and shout out my window "bloody hippies!"... All jokes ofcourse

surfinkombi... ive found the opposite... i wave to EVERY old skool vw i see (beetles, kombis, bajas, buggies, type 3's, golfs, ghias)
and ive found the majority of kombis i wave to dont wave back.
tho every type 3 i have waved to has waved back |
