oil temp guages
can someone tell me the manufacturer and part no. of the oil temp guages that have dipstick sender or the sump plug one. or even better, has anyone
tapped the case for a decent sender, without splitting it and just flushed the shards out?? thanks
if its a kombi and its going too slow, just relax its having a go!

VDO oil temperature gauges...
They are made by VDO as are all good VW gauges & senders. You could possibly find some info on them in the adds in US & UK VW
magazines... I haven't noticed any for sale for some time... send an email to Mick Motors or Classic Vee Dubs or Vintage Vee Dubs etc....they
must have the information..

i had mine done at VW and Volvo Centre Brisbane
terrific job - tapped the case below the dip stick area - below the tinware
works well

use grease on the tap and do the tapping with the engine running so you have oil pressure. Dodgy but it works. |

micks didnt have them and classic wants me to give him the part no.- havent tried vintage though, just thought someone with one could give me the no.
a mate had given me the tip of grease on the tap but didnt say anything about running the motor, makes sense but hmmmmmmm i dunno if id be game.
if its a kombi and its going too slow, just relax its having a go!

vdo have the oil pressure releif valve style
no tapping needed
no hassle checking oil
i've never had the wire come off
and my bugs low
