F#*ked bug: FINAL UPDATED!!!

Ok as many of us have read about the tragic accident that happened to two young women this week when a 12 year old chromer decided to crash into there sweet bug. The two girl’s receiver fairly serious injuries and are looking at a good couple of months in hospital.

Now I have been in touch with the girl’s father and offered whatever assistance forum members can supply, to which he was most thankful. However at this stage I feel that the very best thing we forum members can do is to restore there faith in people, especially VW people :bounce

So what I am proposing is to fill there room with enough flowers and well wishes as possible. T o do this we will obviously need some cash so this is where we come in :kiss if we all could give just a little bit then we can fill that room. To start the ball rolling Aussieveedubbers.com has most graciously donated $100 with the Manx club to follow suit. Perhaps representatives of all Australian clubs could do like wise and we will have enough for the nicest flower display in the history of VW accident survivors.

Anyway U2U me with any questions or queries. If individuals want to give some cash then you can either direct deposit into the forums account or send a money order to myself or Brad or Wes.

So come on Aussieveedubbers lets show the rest of Australia why we are the very best type of car enthusiasts.

Cheers Stephen

The problem with flowers is that they go off after a week. Any chance of an initial hit, and then some every few days to keep 'em fresh?

Anyway, this is a good idea. I'll chip in $50 if you can think about what happens after the first flourish.

I still think getting together a replacement car for when they get out is also a nice idea, but depends on their condition. My cousin took about four years to learn to drive again after a very serious accident he was in left him on life support for three weeks.

Anyway, wish the girls all the best if you get to see them.

Some flowers and a fund maybe. That way money is best spent. I'm broke but nothings new there , my new exhaust will have to wait a week or so longer! Count me in once a final decision is sorted.

Flowers are a beautiful thought & a nice touch...they will die eventually.
As mentioned a fund as money would be better towards another car or fixing that one up if possible...

perhaps, I guess that depends on how much we can gather. The car is a total write off so that does not seem like it would be possible. Keep the ideas comming though.

I to would rather see flowers delivered on a regular basis rather than one big hit.

Let us know, will be glad to help.....Are you really sure that there is absolutely no way we can help with the car......is there any chances of finding some prof. who will donate time to work on this car ( maybe you could dangle the possibility of today tonight or one of those shows being interested in this for a humanity story....it's got all the makings for a great news story, then we would stand a chance of actually getting a car together for them and it would be great publicity for the forum and vee dubbers)

In the other thread there was an offer of a shell and some doors.

Maybe we can still do that?

I'll donate $20 for flowers, and I have quite a few parts I can donate too. I have a perfect rust free 58 pan if we can get a body to suit.

I agree we should spend a relatively small amount on the flowers, enough to show our support. Maybe start a "Get Well Soon" post, we could all post messages of our support, we could then print the post and put it in a big get well card for them to read.

Then keep the remainder of the money to put towards fixing the car. See who is keen to donate parts, if we look like we have enough then we can build the car. If we don't have enough then maybe we just donate the money to then to help them out financially. I would rather have the money then flowers every week for 3 months.

If we can't fix their car, and are just going to donate money to them then I will probably donate some more...

Yes definatly try to help with another car...
Could we pick a model (Wes mentioned he had a 58 pan) & try to find parts for the rebuild of this car.
We could try approaching our great sponsors for the parts that are hard for us all to obtain...

Just a thought....

Ok, so I read the other post and Steve (555bug) said the car is a write off and is covered by insurance at this stage.

Steve, keep an eye on if they are covered or not. See if they need to pay an excess to have it repaired, and if so maybe we could aim for our donations to cover that fee. See if they are out of pocket any other way, such as hospital fees or anything.

I'm with you Judy.

I would donate towards the car rather than Flowers. Whoever has contact with the Father, find out where the car is and assess what is usable, together we should be able to scrounge up enough parts to peice a car together for them.

I'm happy to donate a space in the Carport to put it together.

Would also volunteer to go and collect the wreck.

Can someone give me a contact number for the Father?

My contact is 0419665725

I can pitch in $50 for this good cause. if we do all get behind building them a new bug, then i can offer time for any jobs i can help with, plus ive got a few bits and pieces if needs be.

This is such a great feeling of community spirit, like sooty said, if we could get some public knowledge going about the project, that could go a long way to helping us actually getting a bug done for them (if thats whats happening) and then other people can feel the love too!!

in the other post, someone mentioned getting the offenders to help out with the repairs/rebuild. I think that would be a fantastic idea, not only would it give the boys a little bit of an eye opener on what they have done, but it would also show them how good it feels to help people and in turn that would help them out and make them feel better about themselves.

*feeling the love* This is such a nice idea and im so glad its getting the support it deserves:)

K there have been a few good suggestions...

my bit is that we give them heaps of flowers... but then as WES said... put the rest of the money towards covering their excess and gettin them another car on the way, or helping cover hospital fees. At a time like that its sometimes hard to pull large amounts of money thats needed together, and i think that would b highly appreciated!

Put me down for $30.00

ok for those generous soles that have offered up some cash here are the bank details in which to deposit the funds:

By Electronic Funds Transfer :
Account Name : Manx Dune Buggy Club Inc
Bank Name : Defence Force Credit Union
BSB: 803-205 A/C 155162

This is Brad (aka BUggyboys..form moderator, web site hosters) banking details. If we all just put the cash into an account then we can organise it easier. Alternativly if you are not into that you can call me on 0411 400 342 to arrange an alternative means. Chat later :)

yes it great to see everyone offering such help :) make me feel all warm and fuzzy :kiss Anyway as most everyone knows Sonja was covered by insurance so that covers the car, her family is pretty well to do so that covers hospital. In the letter I wrote on behalf of the forum I told her to pick a gift to cheer herself up but I think she may feel bad for asking so I'm going to ask her again but if anyone has and super ideas about what a babe-e-lishious young woman stuck in hospital would like then I'm all ears? I think I'd like it if everyone could write a message to the girls (Sonja and Marina) offering there well wishes. Perhaps peopke could u2u then to me, or perhaps Wes could start another thread and we could print it out and get it to them. Keep them clean though :) Anyway that it for now, I'll have another update on the weekend.

Thanks Judy.

I have been thinking about the present, and what would be good. Now if I was stuck in hospital I would want my playstation2 with me so I didn't have to watch daytime TV. Then I could play games and watch DVD's.

Of course this depends on whether she already has one, whether the hospital would allow it, and whether she would play it. I guess it is a bit of a guys present idea.

I just don't know what to get a girl. A get well teddy, some puzzle books, simple stuff like that is good for passing time. You'd really have to quiz her family or friends for ideas.

This might be my girly/vanity side coming through, but as a female one thing that would cheer me up if I were in this situation would be a complete pampering session once out of hospital. I'm talking facials, massage, nails... the works. After being stuck in pajamas, a good pampering might make them feel feminine again. You could also think about a gift voucher to somewhere like Indooropilly or Chermside so they can choose their own gift.

Just a thought from a fellow female :)

Hmmm, thinks deeply....

Why wait until she/they come out of hospital, why not have someone go to them?

:D

Someone in the chatroom last night also suggested maybe a gameboy advance, cheaper than a playstation and more chance of being able to use it in the hospital. In she's into that sort of thing.
