splitty rims?

only having bugs(15" rims)and walking out just before to see that my splitty has 14 inch rim...only just sorting out rim width on my bug, I now have to do the same for the bus.
so on the front I'll stick with the 14x 4.5(?)and on the back, can I go 14x 6??
I'm not realy a mag sort of guy...so I will be painting them two tone and puting the nipple hub caps on
I know its personal taste but am I heading in the right direction with size on the back?will 6 inch fit on the back?

i think you will find early splits up to about 64 had 15 inch rims, and from then on they were 14s.

i ve had 15x5.5 all round on my bus. and you can fit 15x6 under the rear. but i got rims from a 62 beetle, as i didnt want the slots in them.;)

All Aussie splitts had 15 inch rims, only 68 to 70 had the wide 5 14 inch rims.

am sort of lost, does it realy matter,if they came out with 14 ,is it ok to run 15.will this change my speedo?

well when i found mine. it had been sitting for 25years. it actually had on it og kombi rims. and they were 14s. i asked the guy when i got it and he said he had owned it for years b4 parking it and they were the rims it always had. so go figure.
i went for 15s as they look better.
but i think you should jus go 17s. thye look the best:cool:

All ozzie splits had 15s, it was other countries that went to 14 in 1963.
Same as all ozzie splits were 6 volt except a few in late 67 that were 12.
