is it worth it? (dizzy)
hi guys, Ryan here, forgot to change login
anyways, Danielles car ATM has a 009 dizzy in it (apparently) and while rummaging thru the spare parts,
I found what is obviously the old dizzy, which is a vac advance only unit.
and then, on a stroll thru the wreckers, we stumbled upon a dizzy with both mechanical and vacuum advance units on it. (SVDA I think you guys call
them)
the dual advance dizzy needs some bits put on to get it working, but is possible.
so now to the real question, what is the best dizzy, power and driveability wise, to use on the car, vacuum only (stock) mechanical only (009) or vac
and mech advance.
I am a mechanic myself, and from what I can tell, it would be worth fixing the dual advance dizzy and using that, as it offers, or should have, a
better ignition curve referenced from both engine RPM and engine load/vacuum.

your going to open a can of worms with this one. But tell everybody first what type of vehicle and what engine specs you have. Normally i would go for
a stock engine, either the vacum or dual. and a 009 for a performance engine.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!

thanks people, I guess I was on the right track after all
I figured just about every other car maker had both advances for a good reason, I just wasnt sure if there was a reason to only use one advance.
and a good reason doesnt include 'because there is more to go wrong'
I guess this means I will be rebuilding the wrecker dizzy when I can be bothered. |

The SVDA is the best
009's are only good for duals so u dont have to worry about a vacuum signal
Stock carb is much better off with the SVDA
Futue te ipsum!!!
