Hero's of the Nats !
Every racer for sure! Some awesome quick cars , up with the US easily in the top level stuff. Mega turbo/nos cars and once the guy in the grey one has
had a few shake downs and used to the frightening power it has , that thing will hit 8's for sure! Vw drag racing is the best!
For me seeing more steet driven cars being hammered is the best , especially when you see someone unbolting the stinger , throwing on the back seat
bolting back on a street muffler and driving out the gates! !4 sec run or 19 sec run who cares!
Stuart from Iron Cross and ct055 to name a few , your all "have a go heros" , nice one!

Where do you go for off the shelf motors? Like take yours out and bolt another in ! Looking at something around 1835 , nothing too crazy , maybe big
cam , heads and 40's. , 45's?
Being inspired by todays daily drivers a small quick motor capable of mid 15's is seriously on the cards if my budget will allow. Where do i start
looking?

hey Danny boy ( sorry if i said your name wrong )im actually building the motor in my 68 beetle and im am building an 1835 turbo now from what i have
found if u just play around with your motor u can make it quick but if u do want an off the shelf motor try some of the local vw places near you cause
who knows what they have lying around or i seen in hot vws magazine they have pre built motors that u can have shiped over

I'm looking at a low buck bracket racer. Nothing fancy at all! Totally stock 67 bug 1300 with an 1641-1776 motor with 40's and an uprated clutch!
The buzz is in taking part and not what times your doing. I also have to be realistic and know that a mega motor , fancy box etc etc just won't
happen om my budget!

Been there before , should know better.
Saying that the cost of a 1776 isn't alot less than a stroker. then there's this 1916 debate ! Then once this starts everything changes and i end up
with a race car on the road which i don't want and can't afford. I'd like abit go for the grin factor and blasting in a straight line on the strip
Again being realistic it's a stock 67 1300 we're talking about. Okay it has new everything just about , lowered , tidy but stock. Stock brakes
being the limiting factor along with short swing axle wild handling. That's why a nicely built strong 1641 /1776 , 40's and a good clutch looks like
a goer and more than enough for the rest of the car to cope with!
I am no enging builder and would prefer to keep my original motor so an off the shelf job is what i'm after. Also something that i could build up on
a bench and do most of the job in a w'end. Would be looking at doing a 12V conversion at the same time.
Reckon i've got about 11 months before the next Nats to get sorted and i'll be kicking Kai's squareback ass big time. Kai the gauntlet has
officially been thrown down! LOSER! 
I know there is alot of talk about different engine builders etc and to be honest i don't give a hoot about all the bitchin that goes on. I'm just
interested in anyonme that has had a good strong motor built thats been hassle free and was a good price!
Sorry this thread has gone off on a limb!
Better start saving and looking out for parts!

stan will sell you a base 1916 in kit form all machined and balanced and you put together if ya want save more bucks.
