forgot to add that the best deals i've had were from a freind who lives down the road and also the 'funny' guy who lives out of town on the highway with sheds full of bits but who is a sort of a hermit...

oh, and i got a good deal from some guy who turned up on my doorstep and bought an old parts bug i'd forgotted about basically unseen & undriven and unadvertised.

gotta love VWs

alternator... whats an alternator..

oh yeah. its one of those things you steal off datsuns and mount onto the veedub with liberal use of slotted angle and weird belt & pully assemblys retianing the gutted genny to run the fan...

if you want something "factory", go to a shop. the hermit on the highway will be no good at all...

I've learnt the hard way

I bought some stuff in, on my own, from the US .....

then I bought some stuff in through a mechanic (contact me for details) by ship, HEAPS CHEAPER!!

Do group buys, or if you're not in a hurry ship it.

in australia vintage vw supplies are the best(cheap shipping too)
from the us you'll have to shop around ,be careful cause alot of them burn you big time on the shipping.

Heres a couple of German sites to have some fun with.
really depends what you are after!!
Bought toys from germany and they were very efficient in typical German fashion

My last two packages from aircooled.net went by sea mail and took 9 weeks and 10 weeks, but they hafta go by sea because US postage is double Aussie Post rates. And they also are always insured, because they need a signature for proof of delivery.:o

Try classic vee dub.

Heaps cheaper than their competition!

They do mail order.
