I ran one on a 2180 with 44 idfs, no worries. Never had an issue with it. Changed it to a 009 - couldnt feel any difference, car ran no better or worse.

To summarise, they are different, but I dont know how, I timed them at 3000 rpm to 32 BTDC, didnt take any other notice.

Hope that helps :-)

This is from aircooled.net

The 009/010 is best used for stock rod ratio engines, where you do not want to do all this customer ignition curve work. Let me first say that I'm not a fan of the 050. The 050 has a different advance curve, and it's more suited for short rod engines (like the type 4), or engines with a bigger crank and shorter rod (78 stroke with Porsche length rods, etc).

I mainly hear about them on Type 4 powered motors

so...

so apart from being more suitable for a t4 or shorter rod ratio engine, what is the difference?

or should i saw why is it more suitable for this application.

if it is more suitable for this type of application, i am very curious, as it may be advantageous for me to use it on my t4.
