Hmmm.......im not sure i like being in contact with semi trailers at high speed

well there i was cruising down the bruce on the way to my girlfreinds place (oh yes if u read this thor girl i have a new girlfreind) anyway i was cut off at the merge lane from the sunshine motorway some idiot in a van cut me off the the maximum i swerved after a quick look in my mirrors into the over taking lane only to be confronted with a semi trailer which had magically appeared from my blind spot.....we contacted:cry .......my drivers side front wheel is mangleated and suprisingly the only other superficial damage was a rim in the fibreglass guard at the front and it ripped my mirror clean off........it was pretty scary......after the truck driver walked back and he got my details and the such and the RACQ guy magically appeared.....i changed the wheel but both of my front wheels now point outwards :cry the tie rod bracket is bent back into the dish of the rim on the drivers side and i havent been able to find other damage in the dark (and not being a mechanic) we edged the car back to a nice ladys place who stopped and rang my girlfreind for me and there it sits for the moment at the back of etamouga pub in.....Palmview? ,.....my girlfreinds dad (mechanic) is coming with me tomorow morning to meet my dad at the car and have a look at what the deal is......i have 42 dollars to my name.......i do not need this now!......the truckie flashed the guy who cut me off because he saw it happening but the arsehole didnt stop......the only damage to the truck was a slashed tire as far as i know.......anyway.....can anyone help me with a King and link front end they might want to part with depending on the damage.......my poor baja :cry

too many shocks for me in one day

oh nooooo nick!!!!

too many shocks for me in one evening ------- you know i am aging......have mercy on my poor ole ticker - you nearly gave me a heart attack!!!!
a new girlfriend AND a near death experience???????

the shock is too much for me to bear!

anyway hun - glad to hear you are alive and ok - though shaken up a fair bit no doubt!

boo for the baja....and you only just got it!!!!! jeezuz. well. things could be worse. things could be much worse. at least you are ok and you had ppl stop for you and help you out and stuff.

well my dear...such is life.......it sucks though doesn't it?
at least you are alive...and fingers crossed that in the cold harsh light of day there will be no more damage to be seen.....fingers crossed there is nothing serious......though the outie pointing tires doesn't sound to good to me....

i nearly got side swiped on the story bridge today by a truck who must of had me in his blind spot....it must have been the day for it -- much horn honking and swearing from me saved my arse.....stupid trucks......

well my sweet, glad you are ok, sorry to hear about the baja though, what a crappy thing to happen, and you must be pretty shook up. glad to hear about the new g.friend - i NEED GOSSIP see you in the chatroom (not tonight tho,....am really tired) just make sure she realises you are a CATCH and treats you nice....what did i tell you - vw are magnets for girls..........(which is of no use for me....but good for the rest of you lot!)

anyway, i am still planning to go up the coast....don't know when...things are hectic with uni and my folks are away so its trips up to ipswich every other weekend to look after their farm.....but will get up the coast soon...in the next few weeks.....

well after les looked at it (mechanic, girlfreinds father) in the morning he pretty much said the same thing as we had already diagnosed.....the tie rod bracket arm is definatly bent. but it appears the the rest of the assembly is ok.......i just hope it hasnt all shifted backwards.........we are hireing a car trailer tomororow to take the poor little guy to Les' mechanic shop "Pro Tech" in caloundra where he is going to put it on the hoist and try to see the real extent of the damage.......if anyone has a tie rod bracket (the bit that connects the tie rod to the stub axle assembly for a 62 beetle......could u give me a holla

ouch mate!!! One thing i hate about cutting off, the person that gets cut off tends to be the one that gets the damage. And i would want to find the guy who cut you off and put him out of his misery by taking his licence of him. Australia is full of wimps who know they caused the accident but wont own up to it. Glad to here that you are alright Nick. Man that must have been scary, and i have sympathy for you mate. I got run in to, and everyone looked at my car and thought bad p plate driver...you want to tell em there wrong but you cant.

mmm outie pointing...this was taken at Pro Tech where the baja is now......i have left it in the capable hands of Les Noy (my girlfreinds father) .......hopefully it will be back on the road soon.......If anyone has a 14ins rim the same as above or a set of 2 14ins rims (wide 5) that they would like to sell i would be interested as i now dont have matching front wheels and no spare........the side panel on the front has been pushed in a little bit leaving a gap under the lip of the front hood but it fixable prolly and even if it isnt its not a huge drama........i hope it turns out ok.......oh and it doesnt look that bad but most of the damage was done to the suspension and i think for what happend i am so bloody lucky that the only body damage was a mirror ripped off and a gash in the fender.:jesus
