Check this site, how far will it go?

http://www.coasttocoastkombis.com

Check this out and see how long it takes to get all the good vehicles out of the country.

This site really scares me :o

A buisiness specializing in sending good Splits/Bays and other early aircooled VW's overseas will just make this country's VW parts and vehicles not available to the Aussie Vee Dubber in the future. If you have the room, buy or keep your cars as long as possible, and only sell if need be and try to keep it away from dealers.
When it is all dried up, they will hit other makes that will be in trend and start sending other makes OS.
I have freinds in the mini club and they are in the same boat (so to speak) their cars are being bought up and shipped back to the UK, Japan, Europe etc. It's getting hard to keep a hobby going now days, with all the insurance scare and shit it makes you to think about taking up knitting ....... although those needles could take an eye out.....better keep away from them ;)

At last ????
some one who thinks on the same wavelength,
The point is how long until there is no good vehicles left.
There is also a guy called Robert from Pukka vw he comes here 3-4 times a year and ships 30-40 good splits, bays oval to the u.k.. He is also buying out complete wreckers yards.
i am not pommie bashing as I an English and lived here for 4 years.I just dont want to have to order parts from overseas
when I could have got them from here.

ever stopped to think that at least these things are going to somewhere that they are being appreciated instead of mouldering away to worthlessness in back yards and two-bit wreckers?

its sad to see them dissapear, but IMHO i think its bettere they go SOMEWHERE to be restored instead of rotting away to nothing because we aussies are too tight or disinterested to do something with them.

Bye Bye kombi's

I have an opinion on both sides of this,

What happens if I decide to buy a split in a few years time? Will they be priced out of my reach because there are only a limited number still around?

On the other hand, the tight ar$e syndrome is alive and well in the VW scene.

We all use dealers to get our parts I guess. The swap meets are so popular with people searching for those bits they don't have yet.

Shipping overseas on mass sounds dodgy but then there are some dodgy dealers who seem to be only into VW's for the money. Hey maybe we can have a protest at the docks?

Have been noticing lately that the dealing side of Vee Dubbing is a whole other sub-culture:alien
