the biggest con of the type that screw on the oil pump cover is it closeness to the exhaust system so it acts as a oil heater not a good idea in a air
cooled vee dub the best system is the full flow system with a remote filter and going one step further also incorperating an oil cooler.

There are bolt on pumps that have an inlet and and outlet and you can mount your filter under the rear fender.
This is a pretty cheap solution and you can use Golf filters.

blue, you beat me to it....
ps. i've got the filter that hangs off a stalk off the pump cover. in the buggy i dont worry about heating issues as much as having a bar and ally
bash plate protecting it.

I'm thinking about something like that too.
Can you put it on without having to drop the engine out? |

you need to change your oil pump
You will need an oil pump puller.
For that to happen you need to take your pulley off and the bit of tin in front of it.
May be able to do it wit the exhaust still on.... dunnon never tried. Always done it when building the motor

Its easier to do it with the engine out. Although u also have to drill some holes to mount the damn filter, which is kinda hard cos there isnt much
space in the wheel well

Dont be shyed out of it, its not that hard, u can actually mount the filter bit on the bumper bracket, using the bolt that is there. The amount of
work is nothing considering how much you gain
Its piece of mind, unlike before, knowing that you can actually filter out stuff that is smaller than a rock
