Type IV port and polish

some advice please...
thinking about whether i should spend some $ on my heads

situation is as follows:

t4, 2L heads, 1800 valves
511 grind cam (am told this is similar to a porsche cam)
40mm dells with CB dellorto update kit
compufire electronic ingnition (009)
exhaust yet to be built

i want it to be primarily reliable and easy to drive.
the more power the better, but i dont want to sacrifice the above.

given the following, should i go all out on the heads?
increase compression?
will a wild head port (or even a mild one) be overkill?

any recommendations for someone in melbourne?

any advice appreciated

my 2c
sorry to rain....
combo combo combo. Does the combo NEED bigger and higher flowing heads? do the right thing and sort out what you can afford, double it and start saving. Do the cam, crank, P&C's, exhaust, and NEW heads and re-use the carbies. 12 months from now you'll be dusting V8s :D

the engine has never been run.
fully rebuilt by gary at conti engines in bribie island
certainly dont want to start again from the ground up

i am asking because i dont know whether the combo NEEDs bigger and better flowing heads.
i was hoping someone on here could advise.

much easier to do now than after the cars done, engine runs etc etc.

probably will end up leaving as is and playing later...

... really just wanting to get opinions.

anyone out there run a similar combo in a bug?

Kim

Check out this thread on the shoptalkforums re the inlet / exhaust ports on a T4 engine- some info re porting also hidden away amongst the cut away photos of the ports.

http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=71523

The photos don't seem to show up anymore- shame they were really good shots.

And the 2L 914 head cut away:

These pics are still there.

Cheers
Jeremy

The so called experts say that good heads are the key to your specific application.

Even minor unshrouding and port work can make a big difference.

Who is reputable for more advanced port work...I have not heard of anyone mentioned in my short time on this forum????

Pete Richards knows his stuff.

He worked on the heads for Craig Patons Gene Berg Trophy winning car.
