kombi reluctant to go this am?

couldnt believe it!! this am taking the kombi to the body man to get the resto started and...she didnt want to go forward!! It is a bit chilly this am, i warmed her up for about 5mins, was standing in the back with the lid up listening to her and i could hear every once in awhile a ping or clip or tap sound, then about 2mins later this went away...so i relaxed...then i reversed her out the drive, no worries...then put in 1st gear and didnt want to move...did move but then the revs just droped and the generator light came on, i pushed in the clutch before the engine stopped, then tried again, same thing 3 times. I took a deep breath, tried again and this time started to go...slowly..got into second gear...reluctantly went. stoped the car and started again from first...now ok..continued to drive went through all 4 gears, down shifted, stopped at red light and kept driving no problems. Anything to worry about or just the cold? And the noise i mentioned above?

It could have been a sticky hand brake cable not releasing properly.

This happened to my datto once, it was locked solid on one side, and any attempt to move it would result in tyre smoke from the other side :D.

If you have a 009 dizzy and a 34 PICT carb then you could have a flat spot. To check you should try and feather the clutch in by bringing up the revs to suit. If its a flat spot it will feel like the engine has cut out and then it suddenly leaps back into action. Rejetting your carby will help, or make life easier and look for a vacuum carb.

Most hand brakes I have come across will hold better in one direction than the other ie. it'll hold facing down hill (forwards), but not so well facing uphill.
My ute (holden) is like this, it'll reverse easily with the brake on but, driving forwards is nearly impossilbe.

Besides that, I can't think of anything else that would cause a proplem like that:(
