Mad Max Web site with the cars from the films
I love Australian History, and this site is the best! I just spent an hour on this site looking at all the cars and buggies that made Mad Max one of
the best films to come out of Australia.

I was only 6. Mum and Dad sneaked me to the Drive-in by me lying under mums legs and a crochered rug in the front of our F100. A couple of years later
my Brother sneaked me into MAdMaX II in the back of his car.
My boys three and four watch both as often as the Wiggles and Hi Five. Funny enough it not how I was dubbed the Bronze but I like the coincidence.

I forgot to mention - Mad max three sucked!!! Lets hope #4 is better and has more Australian influence. Yes they are making #4 and Gibson is in it, or
so I read on the web. I'm interested to find out how their going to run the story line with him being much older. He was only a lad in the first
one.

I'll always remember the first time I saw Mad Max, I was sitting at home back from the hospital with some mates with my hands bandaged from being
burnt and hair singed, waiting for my parents to come home from a night out so we could explain what happened...
It turns out that the fact that we had been playing nighttime soccer with a ball made from a blanket soaked in kero wrapped in chicken wire which
decided to unravel itself mid-air when I went to kick it didn't go down too well let me tell you!!!
Oh well we were only 16 or so and I can look back now and laugh but if ever my kids do it when they're older I'll kill'em!!!

Apparently this shot was the only one done for the first film - it was called farm road and of course had a strict budget attached so there was only
one session. Shame really!
It's an interesting read following the history of the interceptors. There was only one but they did make up one other to roll in no. 2 of
course.
The original has survived of course and has a interesting history. I remember two buggies being brought back to my home town.

Does anyone remember these two Aussie car films that were shot around Sofala, near Bathurst in NSW?
1. The Cars That Ate Paris (1974). Peter Weir's first film. The small town of Paris, NSW, deliberately causes car accidents and salvages the
valuables as a means of economy. Features an oval VW covered with spikes that appears at the end. Stars John Meillon.
2. The Chain Reaction (1980). The government covers up a nuclear waste leak at the WALDO storage facility. Stars a young Steve Bisley driving some
souped-up customised Holden Premier ute.

getting slightly off track but.. was at questacon in Canberra on the weekend. They've got a "made in Australia" hall with Hill hoists,
Victa lawn mowers, vegemite etc. stuck to the wall. Had a little speil about the ute and it being invented by ford but stuck to the wall was a EH, HR
(or something I dont know the difference) ute??? pretty strange they spent millions on this building yet couldnt find a ford ute.

I Don't remember the Cahin Reaction Phil but do well recall The Cars That Ate Paris. I also recall that it was a peter Weir film and strangely
enough the spiked beetle.
