What did other forum members do to clean behind the vents below the rear window?

I am thinking of just painting Mine black... Its in reasonably good condition... & coated with fish oil..... Why spend many hours [days] trying to clean under there when no one really looks in thru the vents ... do they??
Unless You want pink Neon lights under there....
My Son actually put an electric antenna in the engine compartment and when its activated... the radio antenna comes thru the Vents.... neat eeehhhh. I think there was a lot of luck involved.... getting the antenna up THRU a vent....

Vollkommen Art sand blasted mine... vey effective, but now my engine keeps filling up with sand. ARGHH! I clean it out and every time I drive more vibrates out... *sigh*

Missing my baby car, and didn't see any VWs today!!

I was wondering this to, on John Henry's site ( http://www.thebugshop.net ) there are some details, about how his panel beater drilled out the spotwelds to get access to these vents, this seems a little extreme to me.

Ooh, suits you sir!

Air Vent cleaner....

Yes Pat,
I remember reading about someone taking out the panel to clean... Sounds a bit extravagent to me too... Especially if NO one looks in there...
Actually Pat, I just remembered, I have a fibreglass piece that fits over the vents and forces air coming over the roof into the vents.... instead of having Your engine lid open at the top.... but with that on... the vents will NOT be Visible.... & MY nice bright & shiney Aluminium Vent Cover won't be visible..... Looks like I'll have to do a bit of thinking...
Have a nice day Pat.:o:D:o:thumb

for the fire wall seen through the vents , I used narrow scraper
and sprayed degreasers and thinners.
I may have got the paint on a little dryor not removed enough of the old stuff because I have a little section that is beginning to peel. "adds character".
