Lams's '59 red beetle - interior repainted :) 22.05.05
finally loan was approved =)
it's a 1963 with a 1200 motor... battery a bit flat, but fires up instantly upon jump start. car moves, car stops, car goes forward and reverses...
it even goes up steep driveway! very happy! don't know how i will do my assignments this week

well.. it has a 63 build plate (edit: no it does not. seller told me it does). interesting, because it has blinkers too.
the forester actually did alright towing the trailer, from here to gold coast it managed to keep up with the speed limit (110!!!) it was an auto
too
but i peed my pants everytime i needed to slow down (first time i towed anything!)

yes i'm very happy, i got no idea i'm going to hand in those 2 assignments due this week
I plan to make it a very drivable daily car while maintaining its original look outside, but definitely with some lowering !

Nice car
Could be a 58/59/60.
It has the bonnet release on the passenger side like mine (a 58/59), if it has ice pick handles (the ones that the whole handle pivots) then its a
58/59. it has later blinkers fitted to it (they are the 64 and later). Also it has had later tail lights fitted to it as well. Check the body tag
near the spare wheel at the front to see what the original chassis number was.

did some research... guy at harding euro told me it's built between 12/59 to 8/60, shouldve been a CKD build.
i dont think the 90 speedlimit applies here either, most cars with trailers were going 110 too. the cop on the side didn't pull me over
i need some beetle wheels! anybody want to swap for mine? (with new tyres)

there is no limit or special speed on trailers under 4000 kg in QLD....... Only limit is stopping the damn thing as lams pointed out ....
I hear leon's on the Sth Side is pretty good.
I can't for the life of me remember where he is though... damn I must be getting old .....

hmm, the car needs a good clean (probably hasnt had one for months)
gave the car a good wash, then my gf gave it a coat of wax. this stuff is excellent!
this picture shows... my ugly rust hole under the door hinge, the results of this car wax product, the wrong wheels on the wrong car, and a 4x4 ride

interior is dirty. the wooly panels give this flakey crap when you hit it, and the panels are loose. it's the same material throughout the whole
interior and it is quite boring. the seats are a little torn, a little worn, and i have 3 unique colours for each seat! oh and it's blue inside red

hey lugnuts, will find that out for you and should have an answer by friday (mum on holidays)
car went to phoenix engineering today, where they were very kind to do a check for me right away so I could know exactly what needs to be worked on.
found out that it needs
- 2 new king pins
- 2 new running boards (mine are paper thin and still disappearing into the air)
- lights fixed
- rust repair on somewhere underneath the car
Looks like I'm going to have to skip lunch for the rest of the year
