Did you solid or rubber mount the stabilser bar under the gearbox?
Can you still get Pedders 90/10's made? I got mine a year ago and was told that they have a 70+ yo guy who has been doing this for ever. Once he
finishes though, they were no longer going to offer 90/10's.
Well done on the times.

did you make all the struts and the berg front mount yourself?
why do your rear drums have holes drilled all through them?
are you using wheely bars?

Sum tricks under a 11sec bug.
Yep,Dave, thanks for your help.May be a few tricks on your car may help your ets!!!!!!!. I got on a little late to ring you back. Q1 .The spring plate
retainers stop them twisting or jumping off stop in a mega moment at high speed( side-ways or crashing).Under spring plate is a solid alloy block
which stops swingaxle from tucking or lifting when backing off after a race. The block is bolted though steel brackets( second bolt from
bottom).Q2.Push-lock fuel hose is great product and easy to use. Main fuel-line is hardline alloy tubes with fittings welded on them.Q3. The berg
mid-mount was made by me and the blocks are solid alloy becouse the motor is solid mounted. For steet, use urethane.Q4.Shocks are HQ-HZ Holden ,made
from new (not revalved). They have 1inch travel more ,in each direction.( in and out-stock height beam or slightly lowed). Uses hiem joint on top with
custom bolt.Q5. Drums drill for rotate weight( less weight ,faster times). Front done as well. Q6. No wheelie bars on this car ( let it wheel stand )
ALL steel car with racing wheels and bit over 1/4 full fuel tank of fuel- 1764 lbs in weight with driver( 11.92et 109mph). The new rear shock tower
brace, goes from Engine forks to shock tower (left) then across to other shock tower(right) then down to over side of engine forks. This brace ties
forks and pan together and shock tower as one. After made this brace ,through Engine hope bracket into the bin!!!!!!!( 1.54 sixy foot times) NO engine
shake.

YES,we drive it all the time ( to shows, shops, just cruizing),the only time the car is trailered is to the drags , Just case we brake it. The track
is over a hour away from home. Solid mounted motor is a little noisy but as you squeeze on the 48ida's who cares any more. Driving is a little tricky
on taking off , little more revs then usual (2000 to 2300) becouse of kennedy clutch and solid disc. The solid alloy diff ( spool) is very tricky but
you just don't go fast on corners ( straighten them out ) but all of this just gives you another style of the vw bug.

The clutch is a early 2700 lbs( green colour) with Berg shoe fitted to meet Aust drag rules(Doesn't have that lbs,has about 1700 to 1800 lbs from new
) TRUE!!!!. No cast, shoe aloud, may explode and break through gear box .Clutch cable used, with late long throw out arm and throw-out fork welded. Q2,
Engine to shock brace was made out of beetle tie-rods arms .Cut and rewelded in the middle to keep them left and right handed threads so you can
tension it up. I even used the vw tie rod ends cut off behide the nuckel. Then cut a slot for the bracket ends ( look at photo's).Then drilled and
bolted together. Sum tie rod ends where welded thicker on the ends.Lot of work but very cheap and recycle old vw parts.

Few new changes
Rods , 48ida, blue beast is getting sum new bits before
next race meeting! We have allway none that the exhaust
was to big (2inch) ,so time to change back to 1 3/4 header , as inlet valves are 44 and 38 exhaust in a welded
vw head. Rod Penrose ,track down a A 1 lowdown header
for him. This system keeps 2&4 pipes out to the sides which give you more clearance at rear beaver panel(heat)
All so replacing springplate, cover plate and bushes with
solid billet JCL made retainers .Less flex at springplate and
torsion bars .Better for hard launchs and smoother springplate movement.(blue Rods and black for yellow car)

Over week-end fitted new 1 3/4 A-1 header .Very nice
system but had a few issue's with stud holes ( 10mm instead of 8mm ) to slopy and not enough room at No3 bottom stud and No4 bottom as pipe dropped
to
fast .
Shorten all studs ,cut down two 11mm nuts ,made steel
tube spaces for stud holes .
On third fitting all done. Don't like bolts used in alloy vw
heads (strip easy)
Fitted oil filter but had to change oil lines around a bit.
New spring plate retainers are wrong ones (hole to big)but
have ordered standed size replacement .
Mini Jam are two weeks time!

Looking good Pete (and Rod!).
Pete can you tell me how the remote filter mount works? Obviously there is one line in from pump, then one line out up to what I assume is the oil
cooler above gearbox, and the other - is that just a return to the sump? Forgive me ignorance!
Bugger about the wrong size JCL retainers - hope the new ones arrive soon!

I've seen the Geer's Engineering filter assembly with my own eyes and it's awesome. Prescision machining at it's very best.
Tough luck with the exhaust Pete. Persistance pays off though and a job well done. Now to see the performance difference....

I'm keen to take it to Summernats to run in the Dyno comp. This years winner recorded 86.15 rwhp. I mentioned this to Pete and almost had him until I
said we should also enter it in Tuff Street.
Hopefully I can contine my Warwick winning streak at Mini Jam so Brennden, can you wear the same clothes you wore that week-end.
(Al , Pete will answer the technical question )

OIL Lines
Yes ! I agree !does look good:thumb Allan- oil line from pump goes to cooler then ,to oil block (filter).Out of oil block to normal entry of motor
.Out side hose on filter
block is 80lb bypass line to sump. (big brass fitting you see)
The other you see from head is a return to sump as well .(each side ) big rev fill up tappet covers so it helps to get all the oil back to the
sump.
Rods case is duel relief type ,the relief valve at flywheel end is wound shut . Check out VeeDub Parts Unlimited web site.
See you at mini jam and bring oval so you can park in side (more vw's the better) Allan.
