Microtech problems....

Need help guys..

It seems the mt8 that i got was originally set up for a turbo gemini with a dizzy pick up. Have beeen told by microtech that it will not work on the subaru engine as it has a crank and cam sensor.. We thought we could modify the style of pick up, although seems not! microtech conveniently have stopped re programming the mt8..just recently.

The computer is new...anyone know how to re program it...or i have read that you can upgrade them with the lt8x chip.

If not I will have to buy a new one and if anyone is interested, will sell the old one..should work fine on a vw using the dizzy pick up for firing etc...and has the hand held unit for programming..

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,
The MT8's have been used with Subaru WRX's before (Toni Rigoli used it on his race car), so it should have the correct inputs, even if they were not used for the Gemini installation. The data I have says '2 x hall, magnetic or optical input triggers' so that should work off your Suabru cam and crank angle reluctor (magnetic) type sensors.
If I were you I would grab the yellow pages and find a dyno tuning place near you that specialises in the Microtech systems and talk to them.

Matt, give Johno a call at RX engineering (Newcastle), people fly him to the USA to sought out Microtech stuff, so I'm sure he could help you.

Hey Matt,You need to see a microtec tuner to tune to specs of your motor.Your crank and cam sensors have to work all will not go..Unless these computers are tuned proper they are hopeless,Make sure you have enought volts coming from the battery all otherwise the computer will drop pages which causes car not to start. These computers dont compensate for low amps, volts that causes them to break down.I have a MTX8 which has cause me probs as well.JVLRacing

Thanks guys...
A mate got a guy to call today who said you can get the software from and existing car and simply load it to mine. This will then activate the relevent required pickups for the computer to run the subaru engine.

I will call your mate Craig...thanks.

Matt
