75 Dash onto 71
Hey, i was wondering if it possibly to put the late model padded dash (not flat one) onto a 71sbug (has flat dash) ??
these dashes i much prefer and give more space for mounting my components
Any info appreciated
Anthony

If you are talking about L bug dash I have just wrecked the for mentioned and it would not be an easy task due to the steel frame work behind

The dash from the 1303S super is entirely different to the flat dash in standard and 1302S Supers....
It would be much easier to make something up from timber or similar and pad it with foam and cover it with vinyl....
this of course would make the dash closer to the steering wheel etc.... it could be done.. nothing is impossible..
Just a darn sight harder...
Lee.

Nice custom dash taken at Valla 2004....
I wouldn't mind having a dash like that...
a lot of work though....
I can only do one like this....

Yes, I know what You mean.. but the 1303S Dash is different altogether.... it has padding on the top etc....
I've seen many dashes but never a 1303S in a standard beetle with a flat dash.....
BIG JOB.. I believe...

L bugs have curved windscreens...hence curved dashes. It would require a lot of hacking.
L bug dashes are hard to get in good condition..they are all cracked!

hmm. i think i will eventually need to do a custom dash as all the guages i require to get are not gonna be able to hang everywhere. hehe.
with the tacho does anyone know if it is legal to have it in the very middle where the speedo normally is and have the speedo slightly off to the
side?
or where could i mount it as a good place
Note: it will be a 5 1/2" autometer tacho with shift light most likely.
