Handbrake Repairs - Thanks....But.....

Thanks for all the recent advice on replacing my handbrake cables......performed the task today, had a few areas requiring much swearing, but I now have a handbrake again and am happy. Thanks to all!

But......two questions....

- the cable in the drum......the end attaches over the lever in the drum, then runs through a 'claw' and exits out through a hole ('69 bug)....the only way I could get this to happen was to bend the claw out, and back again....is there another way to get the cable through here? Made a bit of a mess doing it and it was hard to do.

- Put in 2 new cables (only one had broken), one tightened more than the other, even though I have them set the same pressure on the brake, etc...is this a problem? I know I need to check the adjustment for a while after putting in new cables...will this eventually work itself out?

Thanks again to all for the advice....

the "claw" should be able to be unbolted from the rear of the backing plate-13mm spanner , then it needs a bit of jiggling to get it out.As far as the adjustment issue goes I'd like to hear some responses as well.:duh
