How much would you pay for a 23 windows bus that need full resto? You know, Floor, outriggers, bottom 6", roof gutters, etc.

Lots

even if its a crap resto. Having said that, you may be very lucky .

Take a look on the Samba, then in the back of the english car mags. That will give you an idea of the (high) price they get if they are in real good nick, and a price for crapy ones (not to be mistaken for Rat okay).

Otherwise, somewhere about $15k+ is my guess as a base price

i wouldnt even be talking. i would be acting. if i wanted it i would be sorting a deal and if it turned out i could afford the deal it would be in my garage before the lady could say... ' honey, where did all our money go?'.. if i couldnt then i would be sulking for month as i sold my body on the street corner until i could.

i wouldnt be concerned about what 'other' people think was a 'good deal or not' i would be satisfying my own needs....

It was an older resto, done 12 years ago, could do with a freshen up, but it was driving and in my opinion it was in very good condition. All complete and looked the business
Did sell for $40 - $50 ish, not for me to post the price as I dont really know

Cheers

Bad news, owner want mid 20s for it :( I think its an overkill although he has a lot of stuff to go with it (safaries, new rubbers, new interior, all windows, new roof some repair panels, etc). I reckon the body work would be easily $15k + wiring + engine + putting it together then I am looking at another $20k to $25k. $50k Hmmmm too much I think

i am allways looking for 23 window buses ,i think the cheapest way to get one would be to import one and do the right hand drive conversion , there was one on the samba with a irs conversion us spec bumpers safaris pop outs all round ,adjustable 4 inch narrowed diac brake front end with drop spindles and very useable for $10500us probably 20k au to your door . that sounds alot but it has alot of big dollars in mods that you would probably have to pay around 6 to 7 k for in this country .
i guess the down side is you would have to pay for a plane ticket or unless you knew someone you could trust to take a look for you ,you will be buying sight unseen

It sounds a lot 20K for a bus that needs a full resto.
I spent 18K on mine and its a standard and was in good condition and I did all the work myself.
It would be more expensive to do a 23, i mean check out the cost of rubbers.
Some one will buy it but is it worth it ???If you were to pay someone to do the body and paint look at around 20K just for that, then about 2K for rubbers, then there is suspension, engine interior, electrics, you could spend around 50K ontop of the 20K purchase price.
You will have to spend this much as you cant do a cheap resto on a 23.

Just my opinion as usual, except this time I'm not trying to wind people up.

Seller's should always remember that the value is only what others are prepared to pay for it.
:jesus
I've been through many episodes this year and have walked away and still the some owners are stuck and :puke as they are dreaming and others have dropped the price just to sell months later :cry.
As said before halve the price and consider what has to be done to it and have an idea on the cost and offer.:blah:blah:blah

my complete (less rust) 58 euro cost me $8000 US and Im into it for another $3000 (also US) in the first 6 months. Add paint and rubbers and engine OH and tyres and headliner and canvas and seats and inner pannels and I figure I can get it all for about $20000 US. (give or take) Mind you Im doing it all and I have lots of time ( I love being a teacher). It really adds up if you dont have all the parts to begin with. for example bumpers and seats and delux bumper trims etc. Make sure its got everything. Send me a pic and I can give you a reasonable estimate. Good luck

Thanks all. I am still in discussions with the owner. I won't be posting pics or sending contact details to anyone, simply because this is not my property and I don't have the right to just list someone else's details on a public forum without their consent. I received couple of U2Us asking for contact details if I decide not to buy it, all I can do is pass whoever is interest details to the owner then he can decide whether to contact you or not.
Its a '60 by the way
