starter..


stupid question for the day....

i have 2 starters here, i know they did work... i hook the battery up, (to both positive's) & earth with the neg, they just throw out the teeth, they dont spin, first with the 6v battery, then them kicked them in the arse with the 12 volt... just throw the teeth out (a little quicker with the 12v ;) ) .. what am i missing here, i know they both worked... :duh

They won't spin unless they're sitting in place as the bearing for the shaft end is in the gearbox bell housing that's why in your workshop manual it tells you that they can't be bench tested.

ok, thanks, why wont it kick while installed.. it just throws the teeth (well thats what it sounds like) ... i will put the second one in tomorrow and see that happens..

make sure You grease the bush that the end of the starter motor shaft fits into....

You could have damaged the starters trying to get them to work without any support on One end....
