like the convert!! so...indulge me guys and let me know how hard they are to find/etc:beer

Mine was a US import before I bought it. Rust free, straight, plus it came with air conditioning and was unleaded. It depends what year you want in
regards to what you want to spend. Mines a '76 and I love it.

waist down they are mainly a standard bug but waist up they are a different beast .they are shit hot fun with style and panache. good luck in finding
one you like as owners rarely sell them but a few are on the market at any givern time. A good karmann ghia is easier to find.

15k for a good vert is worth it. By the time ours is finished (US import) it will have cost 20k or more. We also have a ghia vert (also an import)
but it will owe probably 30k. There are lots of ghias around but it can be hard to know what condition they are in which is why we are doing it all
ourselves.
Air con in a vert is useful because when it gets over 30 degrees, I find it too hot with the top down so the air keeps it nice with the top up in
summer and warm in winter as well.
Having said that, we will only have air in the ghia.

The Karmann cabriolet has reinforcing rails running underneath the heater channels that hang down about 50mm. They also have wind up rear side
windows and a bigger crossmember running underneath the front of the rear seat to strengthen things and some fillets that attach from the top of the
heater channels to the front door pillars and the front of the quarter panels (where the door closes).
Under the bonnet, there is also a bit of strengthening near the dashboard and quarter panel. All the guards are the same but the doors of course are
different and the top of the rear quarter panels is also different to house the roof mechanism. The bonnet is the same and as long as you get an
engine lid with vents for your year of car, it will also be the same.
At least it is like that on a 72. so I hope that helps.
