How do you identify ratio rockers?
I pulled an engine apart and I was told the rockers are ration ones. Looking at them, they look identical to the stock ones except the shaft is
smaller. The stock ones are 18mm dia while the others are about 15mm dia. How can I tell if they are ratio ones and what size (ie 1.25 or 1.4,
etc)?
I can post pics if it helps

I'm no expert, be wouldn't the distance from the centre of the shaft to the ends of the rocker arms be different? This is probably why the shaft is
smaller. I don't know what the stock measurements are, but if you have a stock set of rockers couldn't you could compare them?
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.

That would tell You if they are ratio rockers - if they are different....
I've seen some but not next to a normal set...
the ones I daw did look different...
I don't know how You would tell the Ratio though....
they can make a difference to an engine though..... WOW

Have a look at where the pushrod seats against the rocker arm, if the dish section is offset to the casting (closer to the shaft) then it is probably
ratio rockers.
Take a photo, and then I can tell you !!

measure them with verniers.
some ratio rockers were made by offsetting the shaft hole by welding and re drilling, kinda like some strocker cranks |

Here is the pic.
I compared them to the standards one and some (not all) are longer at the bottom. Have a look at the ones circled in yellow, they are longer. The one
circled red looks longer in the pic because it wasn't sitting on the same angle. The standard rockers are at the top of the pic. You can also see the
difference in shaft diameter. I am more confused now.

for a better ratio you need to position the pushrod closer to the shaft........ not further .
Scratching my head now !
