You'll need longer bolts, 10mm longer. put the car in 3rd gear and install new shifter. 1 for 1 that easy.

Make sure it changes smoothly before fully tightening up the bolts.

Happy shifting

put it in and see what happens, if you cant see any type of reverse lock out mechanism on the new shifter assembly then i guess it just uses the normal one

With the Empi trigger shifter you don't need the original plate,
The shifter should have come with 2 different spacers, the instructions tell you what one to use, bolt it in and it should work, check the adjustment, and make sure it selects all gears.
Shouldn't select reverse with out lifting the trigger, if it does, pull it out and check the bottom of the shifter, and you will see how the lock out works.
I just fitted one to my '74 twin cab as the old shifter was worn, and it shifts like a new car.
Good luck

Shifters..

Sorry to interrupt but it sort of related. I need a new shifter for my dual-cab, have got the a new little rubber bush, though I know it needs a new gate, so will do both at the same time.

But how much are these Empi shifters and where from ? I have seen one in a bug- do they look the same ?
