Subaru Conversion ?'s(where to start)
First off I have a 72 bug. I have been reading up about doing engine swaps for awhile and it seems that a subaru motor is my best(cool) bet. I am
looking at a EJ-20T I think it is a WRX motor. Where do I start? I have read some forums that breifly tell me about stuff. But what I am looking for
is a write up of what I need to do like what to cut and such.
Also the tranny. Can I just get a beefed up one or do I have to get special ratios?
Any tips?

Three guys are currently doing this (or in Jak's casse, just completed it) on the forum, their forum names are Boof2332, Jakriz and Steve1302. Any or
all three of these guys should be able to give you some help, they are all very nice and helpful gentlemen.
Jak's first post about his conversion was called 'Its all stock', and he had another called 'Finished' or somthing like that. Try searching for
them.

try and by a front cut then you can use orignal wiring loom, ecu and other bits and when it needs a tuneup just go to a subi dealer. the rear of the
inner wheel arches may need to be clearanced for the heads and the fire wall for the turbo and plumbing etc don,t forget about the ground clearance
move the engine forward 1" or 2 helps with handling. is LEADING EDGE still operating in the states they had shorten sumps, reversed alloy water
inlets and outlets and a few other trick parts they were also a haltek and motec ecu dealer.kennadys in the states allso have adaptor plates as well.
hope this helps malcolm.

How would you go about moving it forward? The great thing about having a subaru motor is that I am very good friends with the owner a dealership near
me. |

get a porsche gearbox cheap from pelican parts in the states but no room for moving the engine foward without major mods go with a 915 box , 901 no
better than a Lbug box.or go with a Lbug box with a good set a Albins gears from oz ,transform, rancho use these gear sets in their top boxes and a
Modena diff torque biasing or disc type from oz as well better than quaife and with the us dollar cheap.

I was under the impression that to get a porsche gearbox it would take a lot of work to get it to work, |
