WPVW turbo oval progress - 443bhp (10.13@139.70mph)
with the compak attak drag meeting postponed until the 9th April , this gives us around 3 weeks to have the oval ready . the pics posted are about a
week ago , so there has been further progress .
It may be a big ask , but we a hoping to run high 10's and 130mph with this fully engineered and street regeristed bug .
will keep you informed when up and running !!:jesus

I decided to modify the air to air intercooler to a water to air type for several reasons . First was the issue of how to get enough air through the
intercooler without having the engine lid open up to 300mm ( I want the oval to look pretty stock ) Second was when drag racing , you are stationary
at the lights with no air flow through the intercooler ( I had planned to fit a thermo fan but dont know how efficient it would have been , and with
the amount of plumbing involved didn't want to have to do it the second time over ) when you launch from the lights the intercooler wouldn't be very
efficient until speed is reached . Third , I am able to mount the intercooler inside the cabin away from the heat of the engine and turbo . Fourth , I
am able to add ice to the coolant to make it even more efficient from a standing start without any fluid spillage onto the track surface . The only
down side to all of this is the additional weight I will be carrying with the coolant / reservoir / electric water-pump , but I am sure the added
horsepower will offset this .

100% street driven on premium ULP . I am currently working on the compression ratio of the 2.9 engine trying to get it down to 6.95:1 . I have also
purchaced a Turbosmart 2-stage boost controller , so with the flick of a switch on the dash can change from 8psi boost to 22psi instantly . So when
used on the street it will run on 8 psi .:jesus

Hi Wayne,
I have spoke to you before about the turbo 2165 I am building.
I am Adam and Peter's friend. Is the water pump your running a Davis Craig?
What model is it? I have a similar setup in my car. I have a cool tank mounted behind the back seat and that runs through the plenum / intercooler in
the engine bay and then down to the front beam where I am mounting a small radiator w/ thermos and then back to the cool tank. Do you think this will
work, it is similar to Adam Deb's car but he was running a fuel pump to pump this? (I want to cut the least amount of holes into my car body as
possible)
Have you thought of a shot of CO2 through the manifold while it is on boost. I was thinking of building something like this out of a paintball gun and
some gas fittings, but i'm not sure what the men in blue would say about the gas venting into the atmosphere.
Thanks
Heath

can't post any pics of the heads as they are already on the engine , but following are a couple of pics of the heads on the tow car ( my 2.5litre
77' dualcab kombi ) As you see these heads will flow a little better than you described . Keep in mind the heads pictured have been modified with
44mm inlet valves and 37mm exhaust valves ( this is why our dualcab can cope with towing that humungus enclosed trailer with 'mango' inside it ,
approx total weight 3800kgs ) The heads on the 2.9 engine have been modified with 48mm inlet valves and 38mm exhaust valves , and the ports are much
larger !!:jesus

You had better apply for an ANDRA licence if you intend going that quick.... and also a full ANDRA teck inspection.

I anticipated that I would have to do this Dave , but I will get the oval to the track first and make sure it goes straight and fast . If it runs
under 11.00 the officials will advise us not to return until a ANDRA full tech inspection and licence is obtained , and then I shall do as they ask .
Thanks for the advise though .:jesus

the electric water pump is a Davis Craig unit that costs around $185 . I am not familiar with the type of cooler that you are running in you inlet
manifold , but if it is the same type as Adams then it must work as it appears to be working for him .

MORE PROGRESS
over the past couple of weeks we have slowed up on the oval as it was quite evident that I was not going to make it to the compak attak which is on
this weekend ( april 9th )
the body work is nearly completed with all of the panels fitted . it requires a final rub prior to paint .
