Whats between a "sand rail" and Manx? ... buggy??

At what stage does a "sand rail" turn into a buggy without turning into a Manx?
Manx buggies are all cool but am building what I think its being termed in this forum as a country buggy?

ie: virtually a VW beetle pan with the floor cutback and an enclosed “sand rail” type cage ontop??

Hopefully getting some spare back paid wages before the next brake and then some, to allow for the steel budget.

Country buggies are an aussie designed, factory built VW agricutural car, do a search on them theres a heap about them on this forum.
A sand rail is a recreational play car. A buggie is a dedicated race car, as I take it.
But I am sure there are many interpretations of these names.

now that is the most confusing question i,ve eva read

but
said rails have nothing to do with manx,s
they are not registerable
manx are a fibre glass tub on a beetle floorpan
and country buggies are a factory made work vehicle

Yeah, taht was difficult to read.

Yeah, the other guys are right.

The manx buggy is a fibreglass-bodied car slapped onto a 'shortened' floorpan.

A sand-rail is pretty much a chassis with hardly or even no body, just rails and piping surrounding the cockpit of the vehicle.

A country buggy (which i haven't had much experience in) is a full car with an Australian designed body and a vw german engineered chassis.

If anyone watched one of those travel shows on channel 7 on Saturday, they would have seen a racer buggy just like that hooning on the track

dam that looked fun.

And then enters the Meyers towd.

This thing brings a mixture of manx and sand rail put together.
But you would have to be one very lucky individual if you had one of these.
There is only a few in OZ.

PS that car is actually a Towdster which has mud guards and an engine lid and cage as apoused to a towd that has none of the above , and some early Towds didnt even have bonnet or wind screen and for the last bit of trivia the first bodys were plastic not fiberglass.

Chewy,.. :bounce
That’s exactly what i want.
Tearing around the scrub without tearing out the budget sounds like the right balance.
Class 9 sounds like the way to go.
Cheers man!
