Im with Sax
Dosent make much difference at all except feed the ego's of some old rock stars. They should do something about the cause of the problem. Corrupt
governments and dictators. That would be something truely worth supporting.

Saw a lot of it last night and this morning on Fox, Pink Floyd were great and so was Robbie Williams.
Will be watching the highlights tonight as well.
Imm not gay regarding the comment about Robbie, just think he is a great allround entertainer in the old style

Also for the knockers, they are only musicians what else can they do, at least they have got people thinking about the problems.
Relax and enjoy the show.

Why dont they all just give them some of their own money! it's people like you that give them the money and they take the credit. People have known
about the problem for decades how come it takes a concert to make them start giving, if your just watching the show for the sake of the music as
stated by some, the whole idea is flawed.

Sorry but you have no idea what this concert is about,
Fact, they are not asking for money, they are asking for peolple to be aware of what is happening, the reason it is on now is because the G8 summit is
on in Edinburgh this week, they staged the concert so the members of G8 can see that people would like thenm to do something about the problems in
Africa.
Again they are not asking for money, they are asking for change and I am afraid it is only because they are musicians that they can get so many people
in a certain number of locations so that they can show the members on G8 that they are not happy with what they are doing.
Cheers

i think u will find that the people who go to the show are there for the music. otherwise there would be no show as it wouldnt be needed.
it is bringing ideas and being recognised by the united nations. im aware these ideas arent new. but hey it might further their careers and fame but
at least they are doing something.

im aware of my previous statement concerning the cause and effect being negligable however i was refering to whether it would have an actual effect or
not. and not the fact that something is being at least done.

So you think people didnt know about the problem already! And that this concert is going to enlighten the world about something that has gone on for
decades! I find that hard to believe. If you think a rock concert is going to change a country's problem's with a ruler like Robert Mugabe your
dreaming!

And what are the G8 leaders supposed to do, exactly?
Africa is a wasteland of corrupt governments and overpopulation.
Now that kiddies, may be a hint.
In a land devoid of food, the locals have no problem bringing into the world yet more
babies who in all seriousness have a good chance of starving to death.
The people have just enough energy in order to breed and make the problem bigger.
Add to that some of their beliefs and there really is no way of helping them.
Populate or perish huh? Seems like it's all arse about to me.

this is not a quick fix nothing this big is it takes time.
too say live aid did nothing is ignorant at the best, to say live 8 will do nothing is again ignorant at the best, its not about money its about
freeing up governments from debt so as to rebuild infrastructure not today not tomorrow but in the future.
yes a lot of corrupt governments in third world countries as in first world countries.
as for musicians bettering their careers give it a break example pink floyd have not spoke to each other let alone performed for years but for this
they put aside their differences not for money or fame but for something that could make a difference.
the girl that was introduced by bob saved from starvation to go on to uni & pass is that not a good thing or maybe the ppl that are saved from
starvation go on to a career in politics from for example ethiopia
& in twenty years from now totally change the infrastracture of that country for the better of the ppl & wipe out corruption within is that not a
possibility yes it is a possibility.
to the ignorant that say this is a waste of time what truely is a waste of time is your argument & lack of humanituriam, it would have been easier to
register your vote as did many millions than to be negative about it.

Here's the official G8 website for those that want to look
http://www.g8.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1078995902703
I think any publicity to raise people awareness of what happens in countries like Africa is all good .... we are so lucky living in a country like
Australia ...we may complain about our government but I would hate to be living under a corrupt dictatorship and be in bonded labour like so many in
these developing countries ... not to mention the hunger and disease
The Live8 Concert website
http://www.live8live.com/
Unfortunately like most of these things....people get caught up in their own lives again and so quickly forget...but yes at the time it is good...it
makes people aware for the moment

If you dont think that staging a rock concert helps in any way, then you have to be an ostrich with your head in the sand. It has obviously worked.
People saw footage, people were made aware of the problems, people were made to start talking about the issues. The more people talk, the closer it is
to change. So many things have happened due to public pressure, the end to Vietnam war, collapse of berlin wall, collapse of soviet empire, end of
apartheid (possibly). Nothing changes without ordinary public people speaking out. Sure people went to listen to the music, but it has changed the
world none the less.
G8 nations have cancelled debt for 18 countries. If we could redirect some of the money spent blowing the world to bits to rebuilding the world, then
it would make an incredible difference.
With regard to the breeeding thing... half the women are probably raped, the other half cant afford food, they arent going to buy condoms. It happens
here in the so called lucky country so its bound to happen there.
