can we clear something up??
If we are talking beetle, then -
Super beetle pans ran from 1971 till mid 1975.
Then for one year was the return of the beam front end
There wasnt a 1977 or 1978 model in Australia.
So - what exactly are you after??

well thats how much i know about the vw i have a 1976 currently but its not a vw body im rebuilding a purvis eureka and need only a pan and running
gear witrhout motor gear box |

Try and find and 1968 Semi Automatic Beetle pan. It has a better rear suspension - like a '76 - than the manual cars and is perfect under the Purvis

Hi
The earlier pans are better because the RTA rules change in 1973 with wheels.

I know Richard Holzl has an excellent converted semi auto pan that is almost finished being fully restored.
